Jennifer Derse, DDS
Belangie Perez-Torres, RDH, Director of Hygiene Strategy and Operations at Aspen Dental, and 2023 Brilliance in Healthcare Award winner, is driven by passion — positioning Hygienists to be the best they can to deliver superior patient experiences. During her time with Aspen Dental, she’s been at the forefront of new initiatives designed to break down barriers and help Aspen patients get the care they need. Always looking to the future of dentistry and hygiene, Bela has pioneered utilizing new technologies, systems, and workflows to improve patient experience. She was at the forefront of implementing voice-activated periodontal charting for dental hygienists in the organization and has helped transform in-person hygiene training sessions to blended modalities for scalability.
Boyd Simkins received his bachelor’s degree from Brigham Young University in 1998 and graduated cum laude from Creighton University School of Dentistry in 2002. He then received his certificate in pediatric dentistry from Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin in Milwaukee. He is board certified with the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry. His education included advanced studies and specialized training in dentistry for children, adolescents, and those with special health care needs. He is on the faculty at Primary Children’s Medical Center Post-Doctoral Pediatric Dental program.
Born and raised in Beijing, China, Dr Wang earned her first dental degree from Beijing University in 1988 and worked as a dentist for five years. She came to the US in 1993, but did not speak the language. She learned English and enrolled in dental school in New York. She graduated from New York University’s Dental School and earned her Doctor of Dental Surgery in 2001. After working as an associate dentist for 3 years, Dr. Wang made the decision to take control of her future and opened her own practice, Beacon Dental in Beacon, NY.
Dr Morgan graduated from the University of Illinois School of Dentistry in Chicago. He studied the art of cosmetic dentistry at Baylor University, The Las Vegas Institute for Advanced Dental Studies, The Pacific Aesthetic Continuum, and the University of Geneva in Switzerland.
Andrew C. Johnson, DDS, completed his general dental and prosthodontic training at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center and has been practicing in Northwest Arkansas since 2013. Along with his specialist certificate, Dr Johnson earned a master’s degree in dental science researching CAD/CAM restorative techniques and emerging digital dental materials. He maintains certifications by both the American Board of Prosthodontics and the National Board for Dental Laboratory Technology, and serves as adjunct faculty with the UTHSC Advanced Prosthodontics Program. Dr Johnson has been published in multiple dental journals and lectures internationally on a variety of technological developments in dentistry. He consults for a wide range of dental clinicians, suppliers, manufacturers, and developers on topics ranging from three-dimensional imaging and virtual treatment planning to computer-guided and robotic surgery as well as digital prosthesis design, production and long-term complication management. However, his broader professional interests include process scaling, provider calibration, and workflow disruption.
Danny Diebel, CDT, FNBC, owned Dental Arts Studio Inc in Austin, Texas, for 40 years. He is a graduate and adjunct faculty member of The University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio in Texas. Diebel served in the US Air Force and works in-house on the team of Lisa Burkett, DDS, MS, FACP, specializing in prosthodontics.
Raised in Japan, Yoshi is the vice president at Kuwata Pan Dent, where he was hired back in 1980. He takes great pride when the lab’s work makes doctors and patients happy. He sees negative feedback as an opportunity to learn and positive feedback as motivation. Founded in 1976, by Masahiro Kuwata, Kuwata Pan Dent has maintained a tradition of excellence, creating restorations that are fabricated to meet the highest of standards.
