In an effort to support the dental industry further, manufacturing group Carbon has announced the validation of 3 notable resins for its platform. The 3 resins–Pac-Dent Rodin Sculpture, Desktop Health Flexcera Base, and Keystone KeyGuard–will now be suitable for the Carbon platform, expanding manufacturing capabilities for dental labs, according to a press release from the company.

Through these new validations and new materials, Carbon hopes to offer dental labs even more flexibility in their manufacturing capabilities, per co-founder and office of the CEO at Carbon, Philip DeSimone in the press release.

These resins all offer unique capabilities for the dental lab, each with a specific purpose that aims to make them key in diverse manufacturing. Here’s a closer look at these special materials.

Pac-Dent Rodin Sculpture Resin has a unique makeup that enables it to be an all-on-x solution for the Carbon platform. Said to offer both esthetics and strength, this resin has a nanohybrid ceramic formulation with an over 50% ceramic filler, per the press release. This covers it under ADA insurance code reimbursements, while also touting a United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA) 510k clearance for all-on-x temporary dental appliances. Factoring all of these together, Rodin Sculpture Resin is well-suited for a variety of dental restorations.

Desktop Health Flexcera Base is now validated by the Carbon platform, joining its Flexcera Smile Ultra+ restorative tooth resin. Base is designed specifically for denture bases, with key features that include facture resistance as well as enhanced esthetics for patient satisfaction. This material joins Flexcera Smile Ultra+ to create a robust, FDA-cleared denture system on the Carbon platform.

Finally, the third material validated on the Carbon platform is Keystone Industries KeyGuard. I would like to speak to you about the topic of smarter dentistry begins with smarter technology. One of the technologies that is used and is going to make a huge impact in the dental field is wireless sensors. What we do Air2Zed is make your current sensors wireless. And so, you don't have to worry about the workflow of breaking up the wire or moving from room to room and being tripped over. Because all you do is press a button on your device that tells you which room you want to send that to. It has multiple applications, whether you're [doing] mobile dentistry, or you're doing field work, or you have your own office. It will decrease the number of sensors that you need. It will extend the lifetime of your sensor and if you're doing mobile dentistry, it changes the way you do mobile dentistry. You can now take that 1 sensor…we have couple of doctors that are using it for mission trips…you take that 1 sensor, take it to the patient to take the x-ray instead of bringing the patient mid treatment to the computer and sensor. Hello, my name is Aaidil Zaman. I'm a partner at Wall Street Alliance Group. Today I gave a talk about financial planning for dentists. What we realized with dentists is that the one commodity that they're very short on is time.

So, at Wall Street Alliance Group, we have a team of CFAs, CFBs, and we work in collaboration with attorneys and actuaries, so that under one umbrella we solve all the financial planning problems for dentists, and we save them time. So, for example, we work a lot with dentists and helping them set up trusts. Revocable trusts because what a lot of people don't realize is that after they die, if they don't have a trust set up, the state that they live in, it comes in and takes control of all the assets. And the estate goes through a very lengthy and costly probate process. And it takes a very long time before the children for example, can get the assets.

So, we can avoid that problem by simply setting up a revocable trust. We are working a lot with our dentist clients with year-end tax planning right now. So, for example, one of the best ways to save money in taxes in our opinion, is by contributing to a retirement account because for every $10,000 that you put in a retirement account if you're in a 40% tax bracket, and if that's a pre-tax retirement account, you save about $4,000 in taxes. So, helping you select the appropriate retirement plan is part of what we do.

And then asset protection is so important for doctors, and we help them identify what are the ways in which they can protect their assets, whether it's asset protection trust or whether it's LLCs. We help them evaluate the tools that are available to them. With the current volatility in the stock market, you know, a lot of people are struggling on how to preserve their wealth but grow it in the long term.

So, we work with clients as a fiduciary to guide them to take care of all these aspects of their financial life. So, it’s a 1-stop shop solution, so my talk today was based on that. Hi, I'm Emily Boge here at the Greater New York Dental Meeting. Today I spoke for PDT. I talked about the collaboration that Linda Miller, who is the owner of PDT, has with clinicians, and how she gathers ideas that we have working chairside, and she helps clinicians make those ideas a reality.

I am one of those clinicians. We recently came out in July with the 12 OAD Hawkeye. It's a contra angle probe and what that means is it's much like an 11/12 explorer in that when you use it on the upper right facials, you'll use that same end on the upper left labials. If you use the other end on the upper right labials, you'll use that same end on the upper left facials.

It has measurements in 3-, 6-, 9- and 12-millimeter increments on each side. There are future plans to perhaps make that with different markings. But since it just came out, we're really marketing this new probe here at the Greater New York Dental Meeting at Booth 1908. You can also come over to the booth and take what we're calling the “PDT Challenge”.

So, you pick up their instrument, and you feel what it feels like to have such a light instrument in your hand with a resin handle. You can see the quality of the stainless steel, the proprietary formula that PDT uses. You can also see how the probes are very, very thin. They're very tapered due to the special nature of that stainless steel formula. We can make the probes thinner at PDT and so they do a really good job contouring to the angulation of the root surface. As you're probing, you're getting better assessment measurements.
