A look at the benefits this office manager experienced after switching to Dentrix Ascend software.

The Practice

Rachael Rudanovich is the office manager at Life Smile Dental Care for Blake Setien, DDS and Brent Setien, DSS. The high-end cosmetic dentistry practice is located in Kirkwood, Missouri, what Rudanovich describes as a family-oriented suburb of St Louis.

The Prior Solution

Previously, Rudanovich was the office manager at a practice in the suburb of Chesterfield, which did not use Dentrix Ascend as the practice management software. “Because I was coming from an educational background, going into this [previous software solution] without a dental background was difficult,” she says. “It took a couple weeks to a month to even be able to navigate through.

“I knew there had to be something out there that was more streamlined and more user-friendly,” Rudanovich says.

Upgrade Inspiration

At her previous employer, Rudanovich says her team would often experience the challenges of working with an on-premise software. She wanted something that had a modern, more streamlined workflow and interface to help her team work more efficiently.

These frustrations led Rudanovich to research the Dentrix Ascend platform. She soon saw the software operate in person at a trade show and immediately knew this was the solution she was looking for. “I [thought], ‘This is the way things should be,’” she says. “‘This is the answer.’”

The Benefits

As she was being recruited for her current position at Life Smile Dental Care, Rudanovich says Dentrix Ascend was a huge draw.

“Dentrix Ascend gives offices streamlining capabilities, saving valuable time that increases productivity and, ultimately, the bottom line for my doctors,” she says. “Dentrix Ascend makes sense as a user-friendly operating and information system—it operates and functions as other information systems.”

Plus, it drastically cuts down on the learning curve, so new hires can quickly learn how to use the system. “Within the first day, I can have new employees navigate their way through the software with ease. It is intuitive to the user,” Rudanovich says.

Because Dentrix Ascend is cloud-based, Rudanovich likes how the system stays up-to-date without interrupting practice operations. “Everybody knows how busy office managers are. We have multiple things on our plate. With [the prior software], making sure you’re always up-to-date on the most recent version is just time-consuming. That’s something I [simply] don’t have to worry about any longer,” she says.

What’s Up Next

One of her favorite Dentrix Ascend features is that she and her staff don’t have to manually update the software or drivers.

“Like any software, there are always things that can be improved. However, with it being a cloud-based program, those improvements are just happening behind the scenes without us having to do anything,” she says. “Dentrix Ascend is the future of dentistry.”
