Taking the next revolutionary step forward for digital denture production, Ivoclar Vivadent announced the introduction of Ivotion, a monolithic, single disc milling solution. Combining proven high-quality tooth and denture base materials in a single bi-color disc, Ivotion provides digital laboratories with an efficient, predictable, monolithic milling solution that offers the potential to change the world of digital dentistry.
"Ivotion will completely change the world of digital dentures,” explains Diego Gabathuler, CEO of Ivoclar Vivadent. “It is an absolute breakthrough innovation and the next big step for digital dentistry that will enhance the production efficiency of dental laboratories without sacrificing quality and esthetics."
The Ivotion monolithic milling disc features unique Shell Geometry, a data-based three-dimensional tooth and dental arch structure suitable for the rapid digital fabrication of removable upper and lower dentures. Based on the data of time-tested complete dentures that are in service, Shell Geometry defines the transition between the tooth and the denture base sections of the disc. Integrated exclusively into 3Shape Dental System 2020 CAD software, the digital denture system allows patient-specific customization with the Ivotion tooth library and the coordinated Shell Geometry. Efficient design strategies offer the freedom to customize and morph the shape of individual teeth for patient-specific dentures, eliminating the denture tooth bonding process. Dentures are milled in the PrograMill milling unit in one uninterrupted milling process and only need polishing prior to delivery-true to the motto: Design. Mill. Finish. Ivotion is the key to amazing efficiency, as customized monolithic complete dentures are fabricated in a seamless workflow with fewer manual working steps.
Canadian denturist Eric Kukucka tested Ivotion during its development and presented the new solution Saturday, February 22, at LMT Lab Days. "The disc is really fascinating. So far, I’ve been able to test every patient case successfully. The process is very efficient and the results are remarkable," he stated.
Also grabbing the spotlight this year were presentations by Drs. Faraj Edher, Nadim Baba, and Brad Smith, Lee Culp, CDT, and denturist Esther Schwenning. Drs. Baba, and Edher offered insight into the growth of the digital denture market and CAD/CAM production technologies, as well as digital workflows for the manufacture of complete and full-arch implant denture solutions, while Dr. Smith tackled the economic and clinical impact of using the PrograMill PM7 milling unit for digitally produced dentures in a large clinical setting. In a dramatic presentation, Culp demonstrated how the integration of the Ivoclar Vivadent Digital Denture system impacts pre-surgical planning and complex implant placement. For Schwenning, DD transitioning from analog to the Ivoclar Vivadent digital denture process was a dynamic innovation that she outlined in her presentation, detailing how she was able to reduce adjustment appointments by more than 80% and offering insight to attendees on how they can achieve the same successful results.
With the launch of the Ivotion disc, the digital denture solutions of Ivoclar Vivadent are incorporated in the Ivotion Denture System. Within this system the materials and process solutions from Ivoclar Vivadent are seamlessly combined with the scanning and software solutions of 3Shape and merged into a single streamlined process. They link the clinical treatment steps with the digital fabrication in the laboratory.
The Ivotion Denture System gives you planning reliability, heightens your efficiency and leads to predictable results. It can be used for many different applications in digital removable denture prosthetics.
The new Ivotion disc is expected to be available in May 2020. Concurrent and together with this new monolithic milling process, all other exclusive digital denture workflows such as the oversize milling process of Ivoclar Vivadent will be integrated into the 3Shape Dental System 2020, starting with the release planned for May.
