Don’t talk over their heads. Patient education is an important part of your job, especially when you’re diagnosing and talking treatment options. But when you or your team members are providing that education, you have to remember your patients didn’t go to dental school.

Don’t talk over their heads. Patient education is an important part of your job, especially when you’re diagnosing and talking treatment options. But when you or your team members are providing that education, you have to remember your patients didn’t go to dental school.

Getting too technical about what’s going on in their mouths or going into too much detail about how you plan to fix it may overwhelm them, and that means they may opt not to go forward with treatment. How can they say yes to a treatment option they don’t understand? Just give them the information they need to make an informed, educated decision; save the technical speak for your next staff meeting.

Your patients are your practice. Without them, where would you be? You have to know the best ways to attract them to your practice, get them to accept treatment and make them happy, life-long patients.

That’s where we can help. Check back regularly for tips on how to keep your patients happy, healthy and loyal.
