Educate them about how they can keep their teeth over a lifetime, and listen to what they want for their oral health future so you can tell them how to get there, said Lois Banta of Banta Consulting.
If you tell them what treatment they need before you know their long-term goals, they’ll come back to you with excuses about why they just can’t do it right know. But if you know the best way to present the treatment that relates it back to their goals, you’ll have them thinking about why they should get the treatment, not focusing on why they shouldn’t.
