As Carestream Dental announces it’s revamped Dental Summit, DPR wanted to get an inside look at how Carestream Dental believes this summit will affect and education the dental industry. We recently spoke with Mary Conditt, Director of Clinical Affairs for Carestream Dental.

“Education has always been the cornerstone of Carestream Dental’s philosophy. In the past, this was applied to our software customers through annual users conferences; however, the new Dental Summit is expounding on that idea and ramping up the educational content for a wider audience,” said Conditt. “With this new mix of attendees, we are expanding our educational offerings to cover more than just Carestream Dental software, but issues that affect all professionals in the industry-for example, social media and marketing. While we are a dental imaging and technology company, we realize that there are a number of topics that can be explored to ensure dental professionals have a well-rounded practice."

This year, there is an expansion of educational offerings including social media. Conditt explained how this will be a benefit for attendees, “Networking is also a critical component of the Dental Summit. Whether new to the field or in practice for 20 years, attendees will find a wide range of professionals with which to network-and that means sharing tips and tricks and the chance to learn from each other’s experiences. The social component of the Dental Summit was developed to foster networking opportunities.”

The Summit helps doctors and staff elevate their practices to new heights with new attendees, new speakers and new networking opportunities.

Taking place Nov. 7-9, Atlanta, Ga., at the Renaissance Waverly Hotel, the Summit offers a way for doctors and their teams to network with other practices and gain insider tips and tricks about the equipment and software they use every day, as well as learn more about the latest industry topics. Attendees will notice several major changes to the event, which was previously known as the Dental Users Conference.

The Summit is now open to all dental professionals, not only users of Carestream Dental’s dental practice management software (DPMS) and equipment. The mix of Carestream Dental DPMS, imaging and CS Solutions users and practitioners who are not using Carestream Dental software paves the way for more networking opportunities among professionals.

Additionally, the scope of educational sessions has been expanded to address more of the dental industry as a whole. Renowned industry experts comprise the revised line-up of speakers. These experts will examine compelling hot topics like marketing and social media; giving back to the community; sleep apnea; and the cloud, to name just a few.

“Today’s dentist’s office is changing-not only is it filled with new technology, but its presence in the community and online is evolving as well,” Mary Conditt, director of clinical affairs, U.S. digital, Carestream Dental. “In response to this, we’ve brought in several new speakers to address these changing industry trends in the field, such as social media and community giving.”

These educational sessions provide attendees with the potential to earn eight Continuing Education (CE) credits over the course of the weekend. An additional four credits may be available to those who attend the pre-training on Thursday, Nov. 6.

The Summit will also feature not one, but two keynote speakers. Bob Spiel will kick off the Summit Friday morning, Nov. 7, with “Winning It! Leading Out and Breaking Barriers in Your Practice, at Home and in Life.” This high-impact and insightful presentation is designed for every member of the dental team who wants to take their game to the next level and beyond.

Saturday morning, Nov. 8, Mark E. Hyman, D.D.S., M.A.G.D., takes attendees through “A Day in the Life of a Top Gun Dental Team.” Attendees will learn how to capitalize on one another’s skills to improve the productivity of their practice and the quality of the service the dental team produces.

Summit attendees will also have new networking and social opportunities with shuttled trips to and from midtown Atlanta on Friday evening. Attendees may choose to have dinner at one of several top-class restaurants or just explore the city’s trendy Crescent Avenue. The relaxed atmosphere of the evening is planned to allow doctors, staff and new acquaintances to network and strengthen connections.

As in the past, the Summit will also host many different dental technology exhibitors, giving attendees the opportunity to break from educational sessions and explore the latest practice management solutions.
