Women in DSO’s Leadership Award for Clinical Leadership Presented to Misty Mattingly of Sage Dental

Second annual Women in DSO Award recognizes many accomplishments by Mattingly, RDH, at organization’s annual conference.

Misty Mattingly, senior vice president and chief dental hygiene officer of Sage Dental, has received the 2023 Women in DSO Leadership Award in the Clinical Leadership category.

Now in its second year, the Women in DSO Leadership Awards recognize women in DSOs who have emerged as leaders in their field and have made a marked difference across the dental industry, trailblazing new paths for others to follow.

Sage Dental is a leading dental service organization (DSO) committed to providing consistent, high-quality care, as well as non-clinical business and administrative services to affiliated practices.

“I hope that my work as a leader in the DSO space helps pave the way for other women in the industry and better positions them for leadership roles within DSOs,” says Mattingly, RDH. “With DSOs growing at such an unprecedented rate, they will need smart, dedicated, and determined leaders. I hope to inspire all women in the dental industry, especially hygienists, to pursue leadership roles and advance to the next level in their careers.”

As a recipient, Mattingly was granted $10,000 to support personal and professional development. She plans to utilize a portion of the funds to create a scholarship that would contribute to the education of a future DSO hygienist. Mattingly’s award was announced on March 9 at a ceremony during Women in DSO’s Annual Conference, which brings together the brightest minds in DSOs for a 2-day event of networking, learning, and mentorship.

“Women in DSO was established as a platform to highlight, empower, and support the contributions of women in dental service organizations,” says Dr. Aman Kaur, founder and president of Women in DSO. “We created the Women in DSO Leadership Awards to celebrate the accomplishments and impact that these women leaders have made across our industry.”

In January 2023, Mattingly was promoted to senior vice president and chief dental hygiene officer, one of the first women in the United States to hold this role at a DSO.

In addition to her role at Sage, Mattingly serves as the vice president of the Georgia Board of Dentistry, where she was appointed to a 5-year board term that began in 2020. She continues to be a strong advocate for expanding access to dental care regardless of socio-economic and geographic barriers.
