The camera, which provides full-color, 3D-image capture and does not require powder, marks a major leap forward for Sirona technology.
We spoke with Sirona Dental Systems President Michael Augins about the development of the powder-free, steaming color video Omnicam.
"With the launch of the Omnicam we really think we are changing dentistry," said Augins. "The product itself took over four years to develop. I think dentists will recognize the powder-free imagery, but we think the ease-of-use is just as important."
Augins also said the company decided just a few weeks ago that it would launch the product at the CEREC 27.5 event.
Augins said Sirona’s goal is to continue improving on the chairside dental workflow, which the company pioneered in the 1980s.
