Vident workshop offers hands-on experience in selecting, customizing restorations

Vident will conduct a pair of hands-on shade workshops in September and also will team with renowned instructor and ceramist, Claude Sieber, MDT, to offer a hands-on workshop that integrates all the visual elements necessary to reproduce a natural tooth using VITA ceramics.
Vident’s hands-on, shade consistency workshop guides participants through a complete understanding of the material science and clinical applications of CAD/CAM milled ceramics and low-wear rate porcelain. Attendees will learn about stain and glaze techniques and their application to conventional porcelain fused-to-metal, all-ceramic and CAD/CAM milled ceramic restorations.
Use of the VITA Classical and 3D-Master® shade guides will be clearly explained, factoring in both underlying tooth preparations and adhesive bonding influences for CEREC considerations. The use of the VITA Easyshade® Compact digital shade-taking device, which offers unparalleled accuracy and speed in shade determination, also will be covered. Additional topics will include surface texture, axial contour enhancement, cutback and VITA VM®9 layering techniques, color science and shade, occlusal morphology, esthetic color effects, optimizing marginal fit and Akzent modifiers. Upon completion of the workshop, participants will receive 4 CE credit hours.

Vident, Claude Sieber team up to present visual elements courseVident and Sieber are teaming up to offer a hands-on workshop that integrates all the visual elements necessary to reproduce a natural tooth using VITA ceramics. Participants will be guided through the process of understanding shade, characterization and internal layering, while also learning the importance of taking a good photographs. Attendees will explore the nuances of how color and light can change the visual aspects when layering porcelain. Participants will then get an opportunity to hand layer, grind and glaze one single central using an easy layering technique that optimizes the porcelain assortment to give each restoration a pop. Mr. Sieber will also evaluate participants’ layering structure to provide tips that can be incorporated into real case work. Other elements discussed will include freezing stains to add additional contrast, use of a finishing agent to enhance surface texture, use of rotary burs to reproduce various textures and the use of the new Effect Opals to replicate the opalescent effect that many bleached and young teeth have.
