The editors of Dental Products Report share another look at 5 of the most innovative products launched in the past year.
The preceding lists in this issue highlight products based on general categories. Those products were chosen by you, our readers, through response cards submitted this past year, and visits on dentalproductsreport.com. This list is different. These 5 products were highlighted by our editorial team at the time they were introduced, with either a placement on an issue cover or an Editor’s Choice designation. Our editorial team believes they represent advancements that can benefit dental professionals and dental patients alike. Here are the top 5 Editor’s Choice products.
GUM® Hydral™
The GUM Hydral Dry Mouth Relief line features an advanced OTC formulation that works like natural saliva. The line is said to provide a complete solution for all-day/all-night dry mouth relief. The products offer deep moisturizing relief and comfort for up to 4 hours, and include GUM Hydral Oral rinse for all-day use and as part of a daily oral hygiene routine; GUM Hydral Oral Spray for on-the-go relief; GUM Hydral Oral Gel, ideal for night-time relief; and GUM Hydral Anti-Cavity Toothpaste, with natural ingredients such as aloe vera and bisabolol, which is naturally present in chamomile.
SillHa
The SillHa Oral Wellness System is a salivary screening system. A small touchscreen analyzer with software uses a saliva sample yielding a patient-friendly, multi-point analysis in 5 minutes. The system is designed to measure 7 biomarkers and generates a patient education report. The SillHa System analyzes tooth health, including carcinogenic bacteria, acidity, and buffer capacity; gum health including the presence of blood, leukocytes, and protein; and oral cleanliness via ammonia measurement. Results can be used to support case acceptance when proposing treatment.

With a free account, practices can create posts for new temp shifts, search for professionals in their area, and communicate with candidates. onDiem eliminates staffing compliance burdens by offering prevetted employees, who are covered by malpractice and workers’ comp insurance.
HD Black Line Mirrors
Featuring diamondlike carbon (DLC) coating, the HD Black Line Mirror reportedly reduces glare by up to 80%. Its dark finish is said to offer upgraded contrast and visual acuity within the oral cavity. The DLC coating and mirror glass provide a reported 113% reflection factor for outstanding image clarity. HD Black Line Mirrors are said to be 50% brighter than other front service mirror glass. Additionally, the matte finish is designed to help decrease strain and fatigue by reducing the need for practitioners to continually adapt their positioning due to unwanted shine.
UV Angel Air
A discreet air treatment solution, UV Angel Air is integrated into a traditional ceiling light fixture, where it uses ultraviolet light to continuously treat the air. Air in the room with the system is drawn in via a series of fans and filters and then circulated through a sealed UV-C chamber, where it is treated with high-intensity light and then returned to the room to reportedly create a healthier and safer environment. The UV-C light is capable of inactivating bacteria, fungi, and viruses. The unobtrusive solution is designed to work in the background without requiring any interaction from staff.
