The dental lab is a digital-heavy space where workflows and systems need to be properly maintained and monitored, and dental lab software can keep everything running smoothly. From file support for 3D printing to surgical guides to CAD/CAM programs, this year’s products were designed to optimize the dental lab and give it an edge over the competition. Dental professionals expect the best from their lab, and having the right software goes a long way toward getting the high-quality results that make the lab more marketable and profitable. Here are some of the most popular and sought-after systems of 2022.
Imagoworks’ 3Dme Crown is a design module for the company’s 3Dme solutions. Based on patient 3D scan data and using artificial intelligence, it automatically generates the prosthesis design that is most suitable for the patient’s oral environment, according to Imagoworks. 3Dme Crown’s AI technology finds the tooth that needs a crown by examining the dental 3D scan data. At the same time, it identifies the margin line between the gum and the crown to be manufactured and suggests the optimal line. Then it produces the best crown design, taking into consideration the surrounding and antagonist teeth.
An open, cloud-based platform operated by Dentsply Sirona, DS Core integrates the entire digital dentistry workflow across the company’s devices, services, and technologies. It makes running a dental practice easier because it seamlessly connects to Dentsply Sirona equipment and is accessible across multiple devices. It means that dentists can maximize their practice’s productivity by simplifying workflows and easily integrating new ones.
EasyRx Digitize, an impression to digital file conversion service from EasyRx®, allows users to convert plaster impressions into digital STL files and automatically attach the scans to EasyRx prescriptions. Users simply select EasyRx Digitize when submitting an EasyRx prescription, ship the impressions to EasyRx using the autogenerated shipping label, and EasyRx will attach digital files within 48 hours of receiving impressions. The case can then be put into production using the STL files and the workflow updated in EasyRx. It provides a robust set of tools to manage the orthodontic or dental lab.
exocad has introduced an online shop to offer another avenue for current DentalCAD perpetual license users to purchase upgrades or add-on modules plus installation and configuration support. Benefits include 24/7 global access, quick and easy access to upgrades and add-on modules, the ability to directly calculate the upgrade price for licenses online, and installation and upgrade service from the experienced exocad support team. Visitors who want help deciding which software is best for their needs can first log on to exocad’s CAD Configurator, an online tool that provides software package recommendations based on user answers to its questions.
inLab Software 22.0 is available for new and existing Dentsply Sirona customers. Its new range of features includes indication extensions and a new, harmonized user interface for a modern look and an easy and seamless transition to other software products within the company’s product line. It offers the extension for full-over-natural dentures (single arch denture), optimizes gingiva designs, and integrates the new Digital Genios and Digital Portrait tooth libraries used in milling and 3D print production. Users of inLab CAD SW 22.0 benefit from a design and manufacturing workflow that adjusts to the machine’s parameters.
exoplan 3.0 Galway, the latest version of exocad’s implant planning software, is now cleared by the FDA and available for use in the United States. The new denture-based surgical and fixation release supports the planning of edentulous cases, including the design of surgical guides. exoplan 3.0 Galway is described as a powerful and efficient software package for virtual implant planning. Customized surgical guides can be designed using the Guide Creator software module and then produced in a laboratory, dental practice, or at an external production center.
EasyRx’s PTS Trim Line can generate the basefile with the locator base for trimming machines. Then these auto-based files and supporting PTS files are attached to EasyRx’s helpful prescription and patient file for viewing and adjustment. Because orthodontists and dentists can manage and design with this tool, the PTS Trim Line File Output expands a practice’s or lab’s capabilities to serve patients, according to EasyRx. The 3D Command Center from EasyRx allows users to view the PTS Trim Line and adjust it as needed. It is supported by Digital Dental, MAXX, and Ortho-Automation Trimline machines. PTS Trim Line File Output is available for both dental practices and labs.
With its 4.2 upgrade of the Ceramill Mind and Ceramill Match software, Amann Girrbach offers dentists and dental technicians new opportunities for in-house fabrication of restorations. Titanium materials can be processed in-house with the Ceramill Matik, which results in external cost savings of up to 40%, according to the manufacturer. Another feature is the software’s innovative speed-lining mode. The planning of dentures can now also be performed directly on the implant and without abutments—regardless of whether single crowns, multipart bars and bridges, or full dental arches are involved.
The RAPID DIGITALGUIDE increases the efficiency of the digital chairside workflow. Because of the power of artificial intelligence (AI), the dentist saves a significant amount of time and can move quickly from digital implant planning with the SICAT Implant software to final implant placement. They can plan, print, and treat. By using AI and advanced algorithms, SICAT delivers the RAPID DIGITALGUIDE in less than 20 minutes. The dentist plans the implants in the software, receives and prints the STL surgical guide design, and can treat the patient within a very short time. Delivered in less than 20 minutes for less than $20.
The new DGSHAPE Cloud performance visualization software is suitable for all current DWX series mills, including DWX-42W, DWX-52D, DWX-52DC, and DWX-52DCi models.
