The"Great Oral Health Pitch"
The Dr. Edward B. Shils Entrepreneurial Fund (The Shils Fund), named after the late Dr. Edward B. Shils, is a nonprofit organization dedicated to innovative approaches and entrepreneurial leadership to advance oral health. Shils was the Executive Director of the Dental Manufacturers of America and the Dental Dealers of America for close to 5 decades.
The Great Oral Health Pitch: Innovate, Elevate and Generate Your Idea to Advance Oral Health! expands upon the Shils Partnership Awards Program, which was launched in 2022, to continue Shils’ legacy of his enthusiasm for learning and pursuit of innovation by encouraging young entrepreneurs and students to compete and foster innovation in the field of oral health.
The educational webinars are designed to educate students/entrepreneurs on all levels with best practices learned from top leaders in the oral healthcare space. Participants can gain insight and educational direction from industry experts on how to perfect their perfect pitch, and then can apply to win $5,000 and an exclusive sponsorship of oral health products and services to help see these ideas to fruition.
Any individual or organization who desires to start their own company or invent their own product in the oral health community is encouraged to participate. This includes dental students, hygienist students, DSO’s, office staff, young professionals, and entrepreneurs in the early phase of their careers.
The webinars will cover current topics in oral health innovation/entrepreneurship and address the changing needs of the oral health industry, states the Shils Entrepreneurial Fund, and will include a 15-minute Q&A for attendees to gain personalized feedback. At each of the 4 in-person events, a panel of industry experts in various fields will share knowledge and personalized feedback to each attendee.
