To get a better sense of what’s behind the success of Super Sani-Cloth, as well as what the label changes mean for dental practitioners, we talked to Sani-Cloth product manager Melanie Kupperman.

DPR: Can you tell me a little about Super Sani-Cloth Germicidal Disposable Wipes? What are the product’s key features, as well as user benefits?

MK: Super Sani-Cloth is trusted by more healthcare facilities than any other surface disinfecting wipe.  Super Sani-Cloth has earned this trust by consistently following through on its promised claims and performing in a way that is in the best interests of our customers.  Indeed, Super Sani-Cloth has been responsive across time-time after time since its introduction in 1991.  Consequently, Super Sani-Cloth has achieved the lofty position as the #1 disinfectant in the U.S. healthcare market.  It is clearly the ideal house-wide disinfectant for use on high touch, non-porous surfaces due to its short, two-minute contact time and broad microorganism coverage. Super Sani-Cloth is compatible with a broad range of surfaces and equipment found in healthcare environments. It also meets the highest clinical guidelines of the industry: CDC, OSHA, and CMS Tag F441.

DPR: What does something like a label change mean for practitioners who already use the product?

MK: The addition of these 3 microorganisms provides our customers with even more assurance that Super Sani-Cloth continues to meet their ever changing needs. The three microorganisms include Klebsiella Pneumoniae – KPC-2 positive, ST258 (multi-drug and carbapenem resistant), Enterobacter cloacae NDM-1 positive, and Bordetella pertussis (commonly known as whooping cough), which have all recently been in the news as global concerns.

DPR: Super Sani-Cloth disposable wipes already had EPA acceptance on kill claims for 30 microorganisms that pose potential health risks for patients and staff. What sort of reformulation was required to include the three new microorganisms on the label?

MK: The formulation has not changed for Super Sani-Cloth® to acquire these 3 additional microorganisms.

DPR: Are there any other big announcements or product releases from PDI our readers can look forward to this year?

MK: As a leading infection prevention company, PDI is dedicated to continuous innovation. This year alone, we launched two new product formats designed to meet the needs of healthcare providers. The Sani-Cloth® Pail and Refill provides a large wipe size in a high-count format perfect for terminal room cleaning. The Sani-Cloth® AF3 Portable Pack is a sleek design that attaches perfectly to equipment or in smaller spaces. But it doesn’t stop there. Every day our innovation center is researching and developing new products that meet the evolving needs of healthcare.
