Researchers at Heraeus Kulzer recently discovered that the company’s Venus Diamond nano-hybrid composite allows for an unusually long processing time of approximately 3½ minutes.
This reportedly reduces practitioners stress by providing enough time to comfortably introduce and model the composite before ambient light causes it to set. Venus Diamond is specially formulated to be much less sensitive to light than other composites, giving it an extraordinarily long processing time of 3½ minutes.
The processing time was documented in an in-vitro study that examined the ambient light sensitivities of Venus Diamond and three other composites. The sensitivity against ambient light was measured in accordance with ISO standard 4049 for filling, restorative and fixing plastics. The study indicated that Venus Diamond exhibited the longest processing time of the four composites prior to polymerization. As a result, Venus Diamond is said to provide dentists with enough time for modeling anatomic tooth structures and for making necessary corrections without immediate time constraints. The functional design of the chewing surface can thus be achieved even in very complex situations. But most advantageously, Venus Diamond pleases patients by cutting overall treatment time.
