Straumann introduces IPS e.max CAD restorations

Straumann announced today that IPS e.max CAD ® restorations by Straumann® CADCAM and the Straumann Anatomic IPS e.max ® Abutment are now available throughout the U.S. and Canadian markets. The IPS e.max CAD restorations by Straumann CADCAM and the Straumann Anatomic IPS e.max Abutment were developed using Ivoclar Vivadent’s proprietary high-performance ceramic technology, which delivers natural esthetic results for tooth replacement and restoration. Straumann customers can now use durable high-precision abutments and fabricate full contour crowns that combine the individual strengths of each company for a durable, highly esthetic, final restoration.

“IPS e.max CAD restorations by Straumann CADCAM are made of lithium disilicate, a new material from Ivoclar that offers labs a convenient, reliable cost-effective restorative solution. The Anatomic IPS e.max Pre-shaped Abutments, made from Ivoclar Vivadent’s IPS e.max zirconium dioxide ceramic, are designed to offer clinicians the excellent and consistent esthetic results they expect from a Straumann product,” said Straumann North America Regional Head Martin Dymek. “This stock ceramic abutment offers clinicians a highly esthetic and predictable off-the-shelf solution.”

The IPS e.max CAD Restoration by Straumann CADCAM

The addition of IPS e.max CAD restorations to Straumann’s CADCAM product portfolio gives Straumann customers more options, by providing final restorations with a variety of translucencies that can be made to be virtually indistinguishable from natural teeth. The material is versatile, easy to modify and supports various processing techniques such as staining or layering as well as adhesive, self-adhesive or conventional cementation.

Chipping is a common complication with ceramic tooth restorations. When a traditional layered ceramic crown chips, it cannot be repaired and must be replaced. The IPS e.max CAD lithium disilicate crown enables technicians to create a ‘monolithic’ crown where the entire crown is made of the same material, creating one of the most esthetic durable crowns available today.

The IPS e.max Pre-Shaped Abutment

The strength and machining characteristics of the Straumann Anatomic IPS e.max Abutment make it ideal for the fabrication of durable, high-precision implant prosthetics. The high performance zirconium dioxide ceramic from Ivoclar is unique to Straumann’s pre-shaped off-the-shelf abutment and provides clinicians with an excellent foundation for a highly esthetic final restoration.

The Straumann Anatomic

IPS e.max Pre-Shaped Abutment supports both cement-retained crown and bridge restorations, as well as screw-retained crown restorations. It is available in two gingival heights, two shades of color, and two configurations -- straight and 15 degree angle. Clinicians can use existing Straumann planning and instrument sets to complete the restoration and the new abutment features the innovative CrossFit® Connection for convenient handling and a precision fit.
