Product Bites Script – June 14, 2024

Welcome to Product Bites a weekly podcast from Dental Products Report providing you with a rundown of recently launched and updated dental technologies, materials, instruments, and everything else you might use with patients or while running your practice.

I’m your host for this week, DPR Kellie Nock, and on this week’s podcast we’ve got 4 new products with launches from Ivoclar, ArtCraft Dental, and Directa USA.

So let’s get to it and learn about these newly launched dental products.

First up, let's talk about the Tetric EvoCeram Aligner. This sculptable, fluorescent composite is specially formulated for creating strong, durable attachments to support complex clear orthodontic aligner therapy. The optimized chemistry makes it easily visible under UV light, ensuring precise initial placement and easy removal post-therapy. With a 76% filler content by weight, Tetric EvoCeram Aligner offers stability and abrasion resistance throughout the aligner treatment process. Plus, it's designed to meet patient demands for minimal visibility and to simplify inventory for clinicians, available in a single universal T shade with high translucency. It's also suitable for fixing lingual retainers and comes in a convenient 3-gram syringe and 0.20g cavifil deliveries.

Next, we have the TempOff® dental instrument, a game-changer for removing temporaries in just 3-5 seconds. According to ArtCraft Dental, TempOff® is not only fast and easy to use but also virtually pain-free for patients. It features a stable, 4-point contact tip for a firm, non-slip grip on all types of temporaries, allowing for solid lock-on in the correct position. With less force exerted on the tooth and build-up, the lower two-thirds of the temporary flex out to break its own cement contact, eliminating the need for anesthesia or cutting off temporaries.

Moving on to extractions, we have the Xpanders™ atraumatic elevators, designed to help clinicians avoid broken root tips. Created by Dr. David Fyffe, these elevators enhance the extraction process, making it faster and easier. The double-action tips require only minimal penetration into the PDL space to achieve maximum lateral tooth movement. This helps prevent the dreaded deep broken root tips by allowing both bucco-lingual and mesio-distal movement prior to using forceps. With Xpanders™, the stable two-point contact between the crest of bone and the neck of the tooth simplifies the extraction process, reducing stress for both clinician and patient.

Lastly, let's talk about Ceramir Pediatric Crowns from Directa USA. Featuring patented laser sintering technology, these crowns represent a groundbreaking advancement in pediatric dentistry. They boast a homogeneous glass-like structure for natural translucency and a high-gloss surface. Designed to mimic the color and shape of primary teeth, they provide an aesthetically pleasing and natural look. The crowns have very thin walls and can be easily repaired chairside with additional composite material, making minimally invasive procedures possible. Available in two sizes as part of a kit, Ceramir Pediatric Crowns are made from child-safe materials, ensuring safety and biocompatibility while preserving as much natural tooth structure as possible.
