After posting a record-breaking 2,058 exhibitors from 56 countries and more than 125,000 visitors from 149 countries in 2013, it seems to hard to believe that the International Dental Show (IDS) in Cologne, Germany, is poised to once again break its own records. However, after talking to Dr. Markus Heibach, managing director of the VDDI, during the recent ADA Annual Session in San Antonio, it seems that IDS will be even bigger and better than ever in 2015.
If you’ve ever walked the halls of IDS, you know it’s five days filled with amazing dental products and large crowds. IDS is the place where global dental manufacturers unveil their latest advances. This year, Dr. Heibach told us that the meeting will be even larger as a 12th hall will be added to the IDS map. By the way, the meeting space for IDS was 150,000 square meters in 2013, roughly five times the size of this year’s ADA Annual Session.

Of the more than 125,000 IDS visitors from around the world in 2013, just over a third were from Europe. With two-thirds of the attendees hailing from other continents, it proves the show’s global appeal.
We spoke with Dr. Heibach about the show’s future, what visitors can expect, and why it has become such an international destination. You can watch our exclusive video interview below.
