Cheri: Does anyone have any information or ideas on when and what is too much prying? My doctor seems to think it's okay to continually hound our patients for reasons why they cancelled or rescheduled they're appointments. He also demands that every patient fill out a "Help us better service you" feedback form. We as team members have tried to tell him that people in general do not like confrontation and yet he doesn't get it. Please help!

Max Zaslavsky, DMD: Great article! I didn't realize you were from Brooklyn as well. My folks and I grew up in Bay Ridge (and btw, they sold carpet and linoleum. Not one dentist in my family!), and I too have fond memories going over the Verrazanno to see my extended family.
Thanks to Facebook, my office gets 3-5 new patients/month. We have instant communication with patients for their various needs; or need to refer a friend or relative to our office (emergencies, cleanings, I'm surprised at what constitutes an emergency- sometimes even Botox)
We also update our patients on various items from dental bleaching to soda intake. Here in Fort Lauderdale, we use FB to link my blogs to our site. It's definitely been a practice builder and life saver (started with virtually no patients) that has kept me in the mind of both existing and potential patients.

Kurt Schneider DDS: Patty Ricard has been my in-office consultant for many years and she is not only brilliant when it comes to teaching and implementing financial arrangements with patients, but she is also one of the finest minds in the field of dental consulting and team coaching, period.
