Orthodontic technology company, Biolux Technology has announced the U.S. launch of its updated OrthoPulse product and platform. This new version, OrthoPulse 2.0, reportedly offers enhanced reliability and an expanded pool of clinical evidence to bolster orthodontic care, according to a press release from BioLux Technology. OrthoPulse's technology uses photobiomodulation to stimulate the bone surrounding the roots of teeth which enables tooth movement for aligner and bracket patients. Photobiomodulation is a non-invasive treatment option, which may make it appealing for patients who are seeking efficient and comfortable orthodontic care, per the press release.
A shield designed to protect dental patients' eyes from ionizing radiation during dental x-ray procedures, OCU-GUARD offers protection on par with lead aprons. The flexible eye-mask features finely divided lead particles within a durable vinyl matrix to provide radiation attenuation greater than 93%. The vinyl structure prevents the lead particles from direct contact with patients' skin, and ensures the lead particles are evenly distributed for uniform radiation protection. OCU-GUARD can be cleaned with a disinfectant wipe, and each shield is guaranteed to last for at least 500 exams.
Health solutions group Optivida has announced a new toothpaste offering–the Optivida Nano-Silver Whitening Toothpaste. This SilverSentinel™ toothpaste is formulated without the use of hydrogen peroxide, which sets it apart from standard whitening toothpastes that typically incorporate this ingredient. It also utilizes hydroxyapatite in the formula, which aids in remineralization. Optivida’s SilverSentinel is also free of fluoride, relying instead on the nano-silver formulation to reportedly kill germs, prevent gum disease, and eliminate bad breath. It is said to be able to not only repair dentinal tubules, but also to protect those same tubules, preventing future sensitivity. The silver is also designed to prevent plaque, aiding further in its antibacterial capabilities. The formulation is supported by a variety of research as referenced in a press release from Optivida.
The first toothpaste formula customized to the user's specific oral microbiome, VRx MyBiotics Toothpaste & Gel is based on the results of Viome's Oral Health Intelligence™ Test. Free of harsh abrasives, sugar, dioxides, SLS, saccharin, triclosan, sulfates, BPA, phthalates, parabens, and artificial sweeteners or colors, the custom toothpaste is delivered in unit dose packages with a different formula used for morning and night care routines. The morning formula features patented Livfresh Technology and includes Methylsulfonylmethane and Sodium Tripolyphosphate to reportedly prevent plaque-forming microbes and stains from adhering to teeth. The nighttime formula is designed with ingredients that are beneficial to both oral and systemic health. It is designed to help remineralize teeth while whitening them without the use of harsh abrasives.
Designed to meet the oral care needs of orthodontic patients using either clear aligners or traditional brackets and wires, Ortho Protect is formulated with chlorine dioxide, poloxamer 407, calcium lactate, and xylitol. Each ingredient is designed to help clean and protect a patient's teeth by breaking up biofilm, killing bacteria, protecting tooth surfaces from plaque build-up, and helping remineralize tooth structure.
Oral care brand Oclean has announced the X Ultra, an artificial intelligence (AI)-integrated toothbrush. Coming in 2 forms, the Oclean X Ultra WiFi Smart Sonic Toothbrush and the Oclean X Lite Electric Toothbrush, this new line harnesses the power of AI to provide guidance for users. The AI voice guide acts in real time to assess the pressure of the brush and inform users if they are brushing too hard or too fast. This is all made possible by bone conduction technology, according to a press release from Oclean. The X Ultra leverages WiFi to connect the brush to an app on the user’s phone, which allows them to track brushing progress and patterns. These insights can allow the AI to craft suggestions for users to brush better. Another tool in the X Ultra’s arsenal is its smart touchscreen, that can show users if they’ve missed any areas culminating in a brushing score that can also enable better brushing in the future. The brush has 6 different modes, a Maglev 3.0 motor that is said to deliver 42,000 movements per minute, and reportedly a 40-day battery life. Alternatively, the Oclean X Lite contains the insight functionality without the need to connect to the app. It harbors a touchscreen that can both allow users to switch brushing modes as well as view their brushing diagram. Oclean X Lite has a Maglev motor that is said to deliver 72,000 movements per minute and 5 brushing modes.
The new DentaJet™XL highspeed 3D printer is the latest addition to the DentaJet series and is designed to further improve dental lab productivity and reduce costs with its larger resin cartridges, large print tray, Super High-Speed mode, and minimal post processing workflow. With a reduction in labor costs in mind, the new PolyJet™ multi-material 3D printer is designed to run in a production setting with minimal human intervention. Featuring advanced software print prep and print management features, as well as unattended printing and curing, dental labs can reduce up to 90 percent of their labor costs, the company says. Additionally, the introduction of new printing modes and larger cartridges reportedly results in up to 67% lower cost per part. The DentaJet™XL printer can be integrated with new validated, fast and large batch post processing workflows for support removal, and allows for printing 2 materials simultaneously. Designed to improve lab productivity and lower costs, the printer provides an ideal solution for large volume production labs around the world. According to the manufacturer, the first Denta Jet XL customers were able to achieve notable production results: up to 16 implant cases (surgical guide and model) in 6 hours 30 minutes; up to 102 crown & bridge models in 4 hours 31 minutes; up to 28 orthodontic models in 6 hours 37 minutes; and up to 36 aligner arches in 2 hours 14 minutes. Notable features of the new system include: uninterrupted printing, even for the largest jobs with 4kg resin cartridges and hot-swap; significantly reduced print prep times and integrated fleet management with intuitive; GrabCAD Print software; increased production speed of clear aligner arches by up to 30 percent with a super high-speed mode; dual-material printing, which allows labs to increase output by printing two materials at once; and efficient post-processing with integrated third-party workflows for large batch support removal. This streamlines processes and saves time and labor.
VivaDent® Aerosol Reduction Gel is designed to provide a more comfortable experience for patients and practitioners during tooth cleaning. It enhances prophylaxis procedures in dental practices and the gel is a clear, water-based solution that does not cause stains on teeth or permanent stains on clothes and other surfaces.Everyday prophylaxis work involves a variety of challenges for dental hygienists and dentists, in particular when it comes to the use of ultrasonic scalers. The unique formulation provides for the effective reduction – by up to 99 percent dependent on the amplitude of the scaler tip– of spray mist and aerosol produced by ultrasonic scalers. The systematic reduction of spray mist and aerosol not only facilitates professional tooth cleaning but also offers several benefits, including better visibility of the treatment area; reduced likelihood of spreading airborne diseases by reducing the aerosol produced; more comfortable experience for patients as the face remains drier due to less spray mist; and easy handling and dosage. The mix-in gel (single dose sachet with practical 1-hand opening) can be mixed quickly and seamlessly integrates into daily preparation routines. Also, additional instruments are not required to reduce aerosols, and the handling of the ultrasonic scaler remains unchanged, making the gel easy to implement into today’s modern dental practice. In 2 easy mix-in steps, the entire content of a single dose sachet is mixed with 1 litre of water in a mixing bottle by shaking vigorously for about 30 seconds to form a homogeneous solution, Ivoclar states. After a rest time of at least 10 minutes, ideally overnight, the prepared solution is filled into the external coolant tank and professional tooth cleaning can begin.
