The Board of Trustees for the National Board for Certification in Dental Laboratory Technology (NBC) invites dental laboratory personnel to review a task analysis for Certified Dental Technicians (CDT) by participating in an online survey. For sharing time and expertise, CDTs will earn 1 hr of documented scientific credit from NBC for completing this survey.
Creating a certification program or updating an existing certification program for any professional field begins with an analysis of what is done on the job. This survey is designed to find out what the various people who are involved in the CDT specialties do on the job and how important the tasks are.
This survey will take approximately 45 minutes to complete and does not have to be completed in one session (provided you use the same computer and have cookies enabled on the computer), though the survey needs to be completed by Tuesday, June 29.
A panel of industry representatives created the list of tasks in the survey, and input will be used to validate their work. Responses will guide NBC in developing and revising the certification examinations.
There is a new set of tasks for the area of Implants. Based on input from industry representatives, it was determined that this area may warrant the development of a new certification area. The final decision will be dependent on the results of this survey and other input.
Survey responses will be analyzed by a third-party testing contractor, and all individual responses will be kept confidential. Only grouped data will be reported.
If you have questions about this survey, please contact NBC
