MouthWatch Announces Winners of The TeleDent Mobile Dentistry Accelerator Awards

Teledentistry leader MouthWatch has announced the 5 winners of its TeleDent^™ Mobile Dentistry Accelerator Awards. These awards were created to honor for-profit and non-profit mobile dentistry platforms and supplement those who may have been shut down due to COVID-19.

MouthWatch wanted to show their commitment to serving communities who would benefit the most from mobile dentistry such as senior citizens, housebound patients, special needs individuals, the homeless, and the uninsured among others, according to a press release from MouthWatch.

“Our goal was to fast-track the rebound of innovative mobile dentistry programs with the greatest potential for increasing the access to oral care for the underserved,” Founder and CEO of MouthWatch Brant Herman said in a press release.

The 5 winners spanned across the United States, and are as follows in no particular order:

• Everlasting Smiles 4 U, Washington State. This mobile dentistry platform is run by Paula Nguyen, RDH. Nguyen is able to travel around the state of Washington to provide care to patients who may be unable to leave their house or their bed in private homes, nursing homes, and assisted living facilities.
• In Motion Dentists, California. This business, created by Wade Banner, DMD, can provide house call services to residents in LA County, Orange County, San Bernadino County, and Riverside County for patients who may not be able to visit the office.
• Minnesota Community Care, Minnesota. This group provides oral care to the homeless. It is a large platform with over 50 employees and students, while also maintaining 3 dental clinics.
• Appalachian Miles for Smiles, Virginia and Tennessee. This is a non-profit group that operates dental tractor trailers to serve residents in East Tennessee and Southwest Virgnia. They are able to provide care for patients who are uninsured or insured and it serves 10 counties.
• Prevent Dental Cares Project (PDC), Utah. PDC wishes to make dental care more accessible while also preventing dental decay through early detection. PDC uses diagnostic preventive services to patients across Utah.

These 5 winners will receive a year-long license of TeleDent’s teledentistry platform, specialist comprehensive training provided by MouthWatch, promotional materials via MouthWatch social media, an intraoral camera, an individual membership8 to the American Mobile & Teledentistry Alliance, and the teledentistry workbook “Pathways to Prosperity” by Patti DiGanig, RDH, and Cindy Purdy, RDH.
