This partnership between Formlabs and Medit will assist in making chairside 3D printing more accessible in its integration of scanning and printing.
3D printing company Formlabs has announced that it is partnering with dental 3D scanner specialists, Medit. Medit Link users will now be able to download Formlabs’ PreForm app, which integrates software to prep dental CAD designs for print. Formlabs and Medit created this partnership to create accessibility to chairside 3D printing for all dental practices, according to Formlabs Chief Product Officer David Lákatos.
“Formlabs Dental is expanding access to 3D printing, and doing so requires partnering with industry leaders like Medit to address barriers to adoption in the dental industry,” Lákatos said in a press release from Formlabs. “Together, we’ve created a complete chairside workflow that addresses these barriers to make the technology more accessible, with the ultimate goal of unlocking the benefits of dental 3Dprinting for both providers and patients.”
Scans from Medit intraoral scanners can quickly be converted into 3D models and appliances using the Formlabs Form 3B+ printer. Biocompatibility portfolios include Permanent Crown resins and Temporary CB resins among others for validated digital dentistry workflows. Medit scanners such as the i500 and the i700 intraoral scanners are said to allow for easy integration.
This partnership is currently in motion, and Medit Link users are able to download the PreForm app now to expand access to their 3D printing portfolio.
