MEA|NEA, Inc.,a provider of secure unstructured health information exchange, has formed a strategic alliance with Virtru to provide HIPAA-compliant email services to nearly 50,000 dental and medical practice clients and 700 health systems throughout the United States.
The partnership further enhances MEA|NEA’s electronic information exchange solutions being used for the secure exchange of health data between providers, practices, health systems and patients.
By adding HIPAA-compliant email capabilities to MEA|NEA’s suite of information exchange, storage and attachment solutions, providers are reportedly able to safely share PHI while using their existing email service. Whether encryption is necessary to meet regulatory requirements of HIPAA, or to protect patient privacy, MEA|NEA clients can use Virtru Pro to respond and interact with patients, payers and peers.
Does encrypted email satisfy HIPAA?
“End-to-end encryption is something our providers have been asking for, and through our partnership with Virtru, MEA|NEA can give our clients a new level of control of their practice’s email communications,” said Lindy Benton, CEO of MEA|NEA. “We’re making it easy and cost-effective for our clients to have added security when dealing with patient information, and peace of mind knowing that the information they’re emailing is HIPAA-compliant.”
With Virtru, there’s no complicated software to install or learn, and it works directly with the provider’s existing email system, so it’s easy to use for senders and recipients and does not disrupt normal business processes. Users simply send a secure email from the same email program they currently use. No new accounts, portals or logins are required.
Is your dental practice completely HIPAA compliant?
Recently named a finalist for the South By Southwest (SXSW) 2015 Interactive Innovation Award, Virtru provides users with end-to-end encryption integrated directly within the tools they use every day like Gmail, Outlook, and Android or iOS mobile devices. In addition to end-to-end encryption, Virtru Pro provides an unprecedented level of control for email and attachments. Users can revoke an email at any time, even after it’s been opened, restrict forwarding and set expiration dates.
“Virtru enables medical and dental providers to maintain the highest levels of security, privacy, and compliance on their terms and without unnecessary cost or complexity,” said John Ackerly, CEO and co-founder of Virtru. “With one click, users can turn on the Virtru service within an email, encrypt the message and allow the user to revoke, set expiration and control forwarding for that message. Simple.”
Virtru Pro for MEA|NEA customers will be offered at a discounted introductory price of $15 per practice per month when it launches early this summer. Learn more on MEA|NEA’s website at www.nea-fast.com/secure-email.
