“I’ve always dreamed of having my own toothbrush. Now my dream has come true.”
These were the actual words of a little boy who recently received his first toothbrush from America’s ToothFairy. Now the organization is looking to continue to help children around the nation get the basic oral health care tools that they need and deserve.
America’s ToothFairy is launching the 2015 Smile Drive, designed to collect "tools for teeth" for at-risk children and teens. These donated oral care products will be provided to non-profit organizations serving vulnerable populations in thousands of communities nationwide.
“Last year, we disseminated 430,000 toothbrush and toothpaste items to children in need,” said Fern Ingber, America’s ToothFairy president and chief executive officer and a member of DPR's editorial advisory board.
America’s ToothFairy, who has partnered with WalMart, is asking dental practices around the country to join the 2015 Smile Drive, collecting oral health care items and delivering them to local charities who can then help those in need.
“We’ll give you the marketing materials. We’ll give you everything you need. We just need you to volunteer to become a Smile Drive dental practice,” Ingber said.
