A look at the newest product releases in the dental industry.
X-Nav Technologies has received 510(k) clearance from the US Food and Drug Administration to expand the use of its X-Guide® Dynamic 3D Navigation system to aid dentists in delivering minimally invasive endodontic procedures. With X-Guide, patients and dentists benefit from more precise and minimally invasive access to tooth structures needing endodontic treatment—specifically, access to calcified canals and apicoectomies of affected teeth. Using the X-Guide system’s patented X-Point™ technology, the dentist has a live view of the patient’s 3D anatomy and a digital handpiece to guide drill movements during surgery. This allows the dentist to precisely navigate the drill to an exact location for more efficient endodontic procedures.
What Makes This System Easy to Integrate:
Tools in the X-Guide software that make navigation easy to integrate into the endodontic workflow include the virtual prep feature for planning and following an ideal drill path; X-Mark™ virtual registration for using small, medium, and large field of view cone beam computed tomography; and integration with high-speed handpieces. X-Guide is a product by X-Nav Technologies, available from DEXIS.
The matrix® implant is designed for new digital manufacturing technologies such as CAD/CAM milling or 3D printing. This concept allows for the planning of dentures directly on the implant—for single crowns, multipart bars and bridges, or full arches— without any need for an abutment. The matrix implant is also designed to offer no restriction on angulation and indication, no need for cementation, as well as the option to digitally plan 100% patient-specific emergence profiles, which guarantee long durability and highly esthetic results. In addition to detailed process validation of software and machine, a number of different materials were also validated.
What Makes These Implants Innovative:
In the future, it will be possible to fabricate high-precision crowns from Zolid DRS or Zolid Gen-X directly on the implant without compromising either function or esthetics, according to Amann Girrbach, which has partnered with TRI Dental Implants on this implant. In combination with the Ceramill Therm DRS sintering furnace, the final result is available in just 20 minutes.
DS Core, an open, cloud-based platform operated by Dentsply Sirona, integrates the whole workflow of digital dentistry—across its devices, services, and technologies. It was developed in collaboration with Google Cloud and gives dentists the power to do more, so that they can focus on their patients and create easier ways to collaboratively work with labs, partners, and specialists. The company also has 2 new service offerings: DS Core Create and DS Core Care. DS Core is described as efficient, cost-effective, and easy-to-use—with automatic software updates that give dentists access to the latest version and features. It makes running a dental practice easier because it seamlessly connects to Dentsply Sirona equipment and is accessible across multiple devices. Dentists can maximize the productivity of their practice by simplifying workflows and easily adding and integrating new ones.
What Makes This System Secure:
Practitioners can use DS Core to store different types of patient files and make them accessible from multiple locations when collaborating with partners and colleagues outside their practice. DS Core supports GDPR and HIPAA-compliant file sharing and cloud storage for patient case files, and DS Core Create integrates smoothly with the company’s new Primeprint Solution.
The US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has issued 510(k) clearance for Videa Caries Assist. Videa Caries Assist is a caries detection algorithm powered by artificial intelligence (AI) featuring a unique and diverse coalition of data, according to VideaHealth. This AI algorithm catches caries early, and trials done by the FDA indicate that the number of missed caries was 43% lower for dentists using the AI. This algorithm is based on the Videa Factory, a dataset with more than 100 million data points from a variety of dental sources such as practices, DSOs, and insurance companies.
These mints from Dental Movemints are designed for patients with clear aligners. They feature a fresh mint flavor, are sweetened with xylitol, and are safe for consumption. Movemints have a patented groove that is said to encourage patients to seat their trays properly and maintain good clear aligner practices. The mints also help with bad breath and dry mouth.
The Proxeo Twist and Proxeo Twist Cordless systems offer greater freedom of movement during prophylaxis or periodontitis treatment. Both units have unique Prophy Angle cups designed for an optimum polishing experience.
