A look at the newest product releases in the dental industry.
The 3M Filtek Matrix is an anterior restorative solution that makes composite placement less stressful and more predictable for dentists and more affordable for their patients. With today’s dental patients looking for less invasive options to improve their smile at a price they can afford, this new custom matrix system is said to make composite placement less stressful and more predictable, eliminating the stress of free-hand shaping. This efficiency can help reduce chair time, enabling faster and more simplified procedures.
Why this matrix is worth a look
The Filtek Matrix procedure begins with a digital restoration design. A patient-specific matrix is created that helps the clinician transfer the digital design to the patient’s teeth using 3M dental composites. Unlike more invasive ceramic procedures that often require the removal of tooth structure, the Filtek Matrix relies on additive composite techniques where little to no tooth reduction is required. In a clinical evaluation, dentists reported that using the matrix increased their confidence, delivered predictable and esthetic results, and saved chair time. Clinicians can pair the Filtek Matrix with 3M™ Filtek™ Dental Restoratives to deliver optimal composite strength and wear resistance for patients.
Dentimax’s new Open Sensor is designed to work with major imaging software applications. The Open Sensor is said to offer high-quality x-rays while still maintaining a low cost that makes it accessible to every dental professional. Through it, dental professionals can add this to the office to enhance its digital imaging capabilities while boosting workflows.
Why this sensor is different
It is distributed through the Open Sensor Club, which is a subscription club that allows for $99 per month/sensor with a one-time $499 sensor signup fee. As part of this subscription, installation, training, tech support, a lifetime warranty, and accident forgiveness, will all be provided for Open Sensor subscribers.
The iVac system is designed to be used during the root canal treatment irrigation phase. This system is said to be instrumental in cases where irrigation depth control is crucial, such as pediatric patients, apexification, regeneration, and apical foramen resorptions. The system’s design allows for the continuous exchange of ultrasonically activated irrigants with constant refreshment into the root canal system throughout the procedure. The iVac uses apical negative pressure with contaminant irrigation, which avoids the risk of extrusion of the irrigant while allowing the irrigating fluid to clean and disinfect the entire root canal to the working length.
What sets this system apart
The system was created using the 3 most important concepts established by endodontic research for root canal irrigation and disinfection: ultrasonic vibration, negative pressure, and contaminant irrigation. The iVac acts safely against the risk of liquid extrusion into the periapical tissue and activating the renewed fluid inside the canal. The system comprises an aspiration/activation cannula with 2 options of outside diameters, 0.35 mm and 0.50 mm.
The TSX Implant is designed for immediate extraction and loading and is also integrated with ZimVie’s digital workflows for optimized protocols. It uses a hybrid of ZimVie’s dual acid-etched and MTX™ surface technologies for increased attention to the coronal and subcoronal regions. This new implant system is said to offer stability and precision with its progressive threads and taper, boosting confidence in practitioners and patients. The TSX Implant is compatible with the Encode® Emergence 3-in-1 Healing Abutment, Impression Coping, and Scanbody System.
Designed to protect against saliva, blood, splash, aerosol, micro-organisms, and other small particles, the Aerosol Protection (AP) Shield eliminates the need for clinicians to wear a face shield. The AP Shield is positioned 6 in above the patient’s head, giving the dental practitioner unimpeded direct access to the oral work environment and allowing for the full range of motion required for all aspects of dentistry while offering a safer working environment. It connects to the High Volume Evacuation System, providing a significantly cleaner and safer work environment. The AP shield is a ceiling-mounted delivery system. The plastic shield is easily sanitized, or changed in less than 30 seconds, and it can be reused more than 10 times. Only the suction tips need to be changed after each patient.
DEXIS’ new intraoral scanning portfolio, DEXIS IS, is a series of digital dental diagnostic systems that are designed to provide clinicians with a fully robust range of scanning solutions. Each level of scanning is covered by an IS device: the entry-level IS 3600, the standard IS 3700, the fast IS 3800W, and the new IS Voyager. The Voyager is an all-in-one computer trolley designed to offer clinicians scanning flexibility within the dental office. Each scanner can be paired with the IS Voyager and all of the scanners in the portfolio are paired with the IS ScanFlow v1.07 software update. This software enables digital impressions, increased scanning speed, and 1-click export functionality to IS Connect.
Cloud Dentistry’s dental marketplace software is designed to help practices fill empty positions as well as match its network of dental professionals seeking permanent or temporary hygiene and dental assistant positions. Offices are able to see the number of bookings a professional had through the platform, along with the number of times they have been late or a no-show. Conversely, dental professionals can see practice reviews by their peers to help them select the best potential employers. Other features include interactive 2-way messaging between candidates and employers, and professionals and practices with low ratings are removed from the platform to ensure quality matches.
Planet DDS is partnering with Overjet to incorporate AI capability into its Apteryx XVWeb Cloud Imaging software and all-in-one practice management solution, Denticon. The new integration will provide real-time decision support to dentists as they review x-ray images with patients and increase confidence in their clinical decisions, promote proactive and preventive care, and enhance provider-patient relationships. This partnership delivers an FDA-cleared solution that can quantify bone levels, in addition to detecting and outlining decay, and the scalability into the Apteryx XVWeb software, allowing practices to use virtually any imaging device. With Overjet’s AI technology integrated into Apteryx XVWeb software, dentists and patients can gain more meaningful insights from x-rays and focus their attention on areas of concern.
Cloud-based dental management software company Curve Dental has integrated Pearl’s Second Opinion® AI into its Curve SuperHero practice management system (PMS). Pearl’s Second Opinion helps providers through its detection of dental diseases in radiologic imaging. Through this integration, Curve users will be able to use Second Opinion and all of its capabilities with any and all images stored in Curve Image.
Dental AI group Pearl has announced a partnership with SOTA dental imaging software and its SOTA Cloud software solution. Pearl’s Second Opinion clinical pathology detection AI solution will be integrated with SOTA Cloud, offering clinicians the opportunity for the AI-assisted evaluation of dental radiographs. Second Opinion examines x-rays to check for conditions and caries and provides clinicians with another opinion to supplement treatment planning. Its integration with cloud-based dental imaging software SOTA Cloud will let dentists bolster their treatment capabilities.
Combining Henry Schein One’s Dentrix platform and VideaHealth’s AI technology, Dentrix Detect AI is an AI-enabled x-ray analysis tool that provides real-time clinical decision support to dentists. Its full integration into Dentrix allows it to work within existing Dentrix workflows and eliminates the need for dentists to import or export images to utilize AI analysis. Each image is automatically analyzed in the software, helping dentists evaluate images more quickly. As a result, dentists can provide greater transparency to patients by making treatment recommendations chairside, which helps to improve case acceptance.
