For four days in late May and early June, 570 dental professionals from seven countries came together at the World Dental Forum 2012 in Hong Kong and Shenzhen, China. The event was hosted by Modern Dental Laboratory USA, and speakers presented on topics including endodontics, operative dentistry, implants, esthetic dentistry, oral hygiene, prosthodonics, digital dentistry and oral appliance therapies.

Speakers included Prof. Markus Haapasalo, Prof. Bart van Meerbeek, Prof. Jack Ferracane, Mr. Jozef Ludovic Beckers, Prof. Niklaus Lang, Dr. Paul Miara, Dr. George Freedman, Dr. Joseph Kan, Dr. Ken Zhang, Dr. Michael Burrow, Dr. John O. Burgess, Dr. Daniel Edelhoff, Dr. Joerd van der Meer and Dr. Jack Gerschman.
The US Delegation included Dr. Howard Farran, Dr. Rhonda Savage and John Christensen.
The Hong Kong portions of the meeting were held at the Grand Hyatt in Hong Kong and were co-organized by The University of Hong Kong Faculty of Dentistry and Modern Dental Laboratory. The event was held in conjunction with the 100-year anniversary of The University of Hong Kong and the 30-year anniversary of The University of Hong Kong Faculty of Dentistry.
As a part of the meeting, attendees travelled to Shenzhen to tour Modern Dental Laboratory's facility there, which is the world's largest dental laboratory. The tour was designed to provide attendees with a first-hand experience with the ways international integration is reaching dentists and patients across the world today. After the tour, Modern Dental Laboratory USA hosted a US Delegation semi-formal dinner where Farran, Savage and Christensen addressed the delegation on practice management techniques and the future of dentistry.
