[SPONSORED] In a recent survey conducted by Dental Values, dentists from throughout the US were asked about their preferences and their habits when it comes to dental adhesive materials. See the key finding in this infographic sponsored by BISCO Dental Products.
Satisfied but Open to Something New
99% say they are satisfied with their current adhesive, and 30% say they are not interested in anything new.
Still, that leaves 69% of dentists who are happy with the adhesive they’re using but who also are open to trying something new.
Waiting and Watching
71% have a wait-and-see approach toward new materials.
Watching a suspected carious lesion to find the ideal time and method of treatment is common in dentistry, and it seems this philosophy carries over into the way dentists consider new material options.
39% of dentists prefer materials that have a proven clinical track record.
32% wait for research to demonstrate a material’s efficacy.
20% say they are trying new materials all the time.
Selective Samplers
50% say they try new restorative materials only once or twice a year.
Although trying new material choices may happen rarely at 50% of dental practices, more than one-third say they are either always trying something new or trying something new once or twice a month.
Easy Does It
Ease of use was by far the top choice when dentists choose their current adhesive. This was the only reason cited by 63%, but clinical study results showing efficacy and single-component systems were key details for almost 50%.
