The 2024 Consumer Electronics Show was the stage for the debuts of these 3D printing innovations that aim to enhance efficiency and restoration quality.
With the technology world watching, 3D printing company Formlabs debuted a trio of new products including an innovative Resin Pumping System, and an optimized Premium Teeth Resin during the 2024 Consumer Electronics Show (CES).
Designed as a response to the growing demand for 3D printing production, Resin Pumping System is a plug-and-play replacement for standard one-liter cartridges. Compatible with Form 3 and Form 3L printers, this system seamlessly delivers 5 liters of resin directly to the printer's resin tank, allowing for a fivefold increase in how long the printer can run without the need to change the resin.
Using the Resin Pumping system allows dental labs to reduce their cost-per-part, and the move to a larger resin supply also provides an 86% reduction in packaging waste.
“Skydio is constantly 3D printing to iterate using Form 3+ printers, which provides a huge advantage in hardware development,” says Skydio senior hardware development specialist Eric Weinhoffer in a press release. “Resin Pumping System benefitted me and my team because I don’t have to check on the 1-liter cartridge, which ran out once and caused us to place a frantic, last-minute order. Now, Resin Pumping System and the 5-liter container reduce the mental burden on me and ensure our printers keep running.”
Premium Teeth Resin is an FDA registered Class II biocompatible material designed specifically for dental applications including digitally-produced denture teeth and temporary implant-supported restorations. The nano-ceramic filled material mimics the translucency and opalescence of natural teeth while offering ideal physical properties. Produced via a simple workflow, the material is accurate and durable.
“I have been thoroughly impressed with Formlabs Premium Teeth Resin,” says Christopher Baer, DMD, in the press release. “The material not only has the strength we need for denture teeth and All-on-X appliances, but it also polishes with minimal effort to reveal a natural, lifelike translucency.”
During CES 2024 Formlabs also announced a new Polypropylene Powder for industrial applications. The new powder, along with the Resin Pumping System and Premium Teeth Resin are all available now.
"3D printing production is steadily increasing, and the introduction of Resin Pumping System, Polypropylene Powder, and Premium Teeth Resin are three big steps in our mission to provide professionals with a full ecosystem of the tools they need to bring their ideas to life,” says Formlabs chief product officer Dávid Lakatos in the press release.
