I work in a practice with my wife, Dr. Dora E. Jarquim, and we stay very busy. It’s important for both of us to know our handpieces are running at an optimal level so that we can provide the best care for our patients.
That’s one of the reasons why I love having the Dentsply Midwest Automate system in our practice.
The Automate takes all of the guesswork out of the handpiece maintenance process. It’s a fully automated system that does all of the work for you. My assistants love it because it’s fast, it’s automated and it’s efficient. They plug it in and it does its work. When it’s done, we know our handpieces have been properly oiled and vented. There’s no wondering or second-guessing.
Having the Automate has definitely made the handpiece maintenance process much more efficient for my team and my practice. Besides efficiency, I also look at the role that the Automate plays before we begin the sterilization process. We know the Automate will properly prepare the handpieces to go through the sterilization process. It’s paramount to make sure that the sterilization process is done properly, because the safety of your patients and team always comes first, and using the Automate to prepare our handpieces prior to sterilization will ensure they go through less wear and tear. Using the Automate before sterilization gives our handpieces more longevity, which is very important for my business.
I’ve only had the Automate for a few months, but I know we haven’t sent any handpieces out for repair during that time. In the long run, I know this machine will keep my handpieces in better shape, meaning I will have to do less repair work. That also means less down time and a more productive practice.
