Dr. Gena Schultheis completed her undergraduate studies at Syracuse University in 2000  and earned her dental degree from the Baltimore College of Dental Surgery in 2005. Outside of dentistry, she held the rank of Captain in the USAF and received the Air Force Commendation Medal. Dr. Schultheis practices orthodontics as a general dentist with two practices located in Maryland. Here she tells why she loves using PeriOptix, which became part of the DenMat family in 2012.

How did you first hear about the PeriOptix and why did you decide to make the switch?

I have been using loupes for more than 10 years and have owned three different styles and brands of loupes.

I was looking for comfortable frames and wanted a light source that was easily attached to head lamps. I wanted the best quality out there for a reasonable price and the combination of loupe and light that PeriOptix has is unbeatable.

What are the benefits of using PeriOptix?

I can diagnose better using my loupes and provide better dentistry during every procedure with the loupe/light combination. Also, my assistants love it because they do not have to continually try to help me position the light source. In order to provide top notch dental care a practitioner must use a light and loupes and no combination of these two things that I have tried before is as fantastic as PeriOptix.

Why would you recommend PeriOptix to your colleagues?

First off, I would recommend using PeriOptix because it allows you to provide better dentistry. In addition to that, using this product allows you to practice more ergonomically and prevent back and neck problems. So this system provides benefits right away while also delivering long-term benefits to its users.
