These awards recognized dental students on their valuable research in the clinical and scientific fields.
Dentsply Sirona and the American Association for Dental, Oral, and Craniofacial Research (AADOCR) have come together to recognize the winners of the 2022 Student Competition for Advancing Dental Research and its Application Awards (SCADA). SCADA is a competition and awards program to celebrate dental students and their ongoing research.
All U.S. dental schools were invited to nominate in 1 or 2 categories. These categories were Clinical Science and Public Health Research, and Basic Translational Science. Students were asked to submit abstracts, portfolios, and presentations on their research which were then reviewed by a panel of judges. Out of 49 applicants, 6 students were awarded.
Dentsply Sirona sponsored 12 student research competitions in 12 countries. Seven students from 6 countries were honored during the awards program. The SCADA competition is designed to improve global oral health by way of its significant research in this department, according to a press release from Dentsply Sirona.
“Seeing the impressive lineup of winners in this year’s SCADA brings an immense pride in today’s generation of dental students,” Dr Rainer Seemann, Vice President Global Clinical Research with Dentsply Sirona said in the press release. “The SCADA program and our collaboration with the AADOCR align with Dentsply Sirona’s commitment to innovation and education.”
