ClearDATA Networks, Inc., a leading provider of health care cloud computing platform and services, announced a new agreement with Henry Schein, Inc. to offer Dentrix Enterprise as a Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) practice management system.
Under the agreement, Henry Schein’s Practice Solutions division, a leader in dental practice management solutions with a global installed base of 65,000 customers, will offer its dental enterprise software, Dentrix Enterprise, as a SaaS practice management system hosted in ClearDATA’s cloud computing platform. This new capability reportedly offers users of Dentrix Enterprise -Henry Schein’s software solution for community health centers, large groups and multi-site group practices - the opportunity to log in to a virtual private network (VPN) and use a web browser with active directory authentication to access the software.
In addition, ClearDATA will implement its robust Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA)-compliant data backup and disaster recovery services to ensure protected health information (PHI) remains secure and available to any dental practice in the cloud in the event of fire, flood, hurricane, earthquake, electrical surge, power loss, viruses, theft of computers or other issues. ClearDATA will also provide other cloud-managed services to Henry Schein Practice Solutions.

In the case of dental practices, many lack an IT staff and must either manage their technology themselves or work with an outside firm. Moving their dental practice management solution or data to the cloud not only relieves them of this burden (and its costs) but also offers additional advantages, such as the ability to access the solution or data when they are away from the office. The Henry Schein/ClearDATA solutions reportedly ensure PHI and other important data is backed up regularly and can be recovered quickly to avoid the type of interruptions or data loss that can severely impair businesses or cause them to fail.
“Henry Schein has an outstanding reputation for quality, innovation and service,” said Darin Brannan, CEO of ClearDATA. “We are excited to team with them to give dental practices the opportunity to take advantage of their solutions in the cloud through a HIPAA-compliant value-added platform that has been specifically designed for the needs of the healthcare and life sciences industries.”
