A look at some of the recently announced products from the dental industry.
3M™ Attest™ Mini Auto-Reader 490M
Designed to help dental practices feel secure in the proper functionality of in-office sterilizers, the 3M Attest Mini Auto-Reader 490M can produce sterilization monitoring results in just 24 minutes. Designed to work with 3M Attest Super Rapid Readout Biological Indicators 1491 and 1492V, the Mini Auto-Reader is small in size to easily fit on a counter, and described as easy to use. The large display can be viewed from across a room and features a countdown timer to indicate when results will be ready. The system can be connected to a computer via USB for documentation of test results.
Why this test system deserves a look:
Most practices are currently using spore tests to meet sterilization monitoring requirements, which are often due weekly. However, whether using an in-office or mail-in spore test, these tests can require 24 hours and up to a week before results are known. This means, if a sterilizer is not functioning properly, clinicians could be continuing to use it to process instruments, and then using those instruments on a patient before being alerted of the malfunctioning sterilizer. With the Attest Mini Auto Reader, practices can be assured that instruments are properly sterilized with almost immediate results.
CS 8100 2D and 3D Evo Editions
Capable of providing enhanced digital 2D and 3D extraoral imaging and improved diagnostic capabilities, the CS 8100 2D and 3D Evo Editions feature advanced software to produce improved imaging. 2D panoramic and cephalometric imaging with the CS 8100 Evo Edition and the CS 8100SC Evo Edition feature Tomosharp technology, said to make image quality less dependent on patient positioning. Additionally the CS Adapt Anatomic filter family features an improved processing engine. The Evo Editions of the CS 8100 3D and CS 8100SC 3D offer access to the same features as the CS 9600 CBCT system, such as CS MAR metal artifact reduction and Advanced Noise Reduction help preserve key image details while cleaning up image imperfections.
Why these imaging systems stand out:
All of the Evo Edition imaging solutions updates are based on improved software and enhanced algorithms. This allows 2D imaging systems to capture the entire jaw in a single acquisition and then reconstruct the best possible image based on the area of the image with the sharpest anatomy. Because the updates adding new features to the Evo Editions of the CS 8100 family of imaging solutions are all software-based, this allows practices that already own a CS 8100 to easily update their 2D or 3D imaging solution to an Evo Edition.
BluTube® Dental Unit Water Purification Cartridge
Designed to make dental waterline treatment less labor intensive, the BluTube elutes a non-allergenic and elemental iodinated resin to control microbial contamination in dental waterlines. The two-cartridge system provides a waterline sanitization solution for up to one year, and aligns with the American Dental Association’s Best Management Practices for amalgam separators.
Why this solution stands out:
Dental waterline treatment is a part of every practice, and while it is rarely a time consuming process, it is something that must be regularly completed, and can be easily forgotten during a busy day at the practice. With the BluTube installed at a practice, waterline treatment can be checked off the to do list for an entire year, and setting a simple calendar reminder to change the tube once per year is an easy way to ensure the practice always has safe and clean water.
EDITOR’S CHOICE When combined with MMG’s AI-driven Task Manager, the UC tool becomes invaluable for improving efficiency.
[ PRACTICE MANAGEMENT SOFTWARE ]
Unified Communications
Unified Communications (UC) is said to provide your practice unprecedented ability to prioritize, streamline, collaborate, and connect both externally with patients and internally with staff. It is designed specifically for dental practices to automate, simplify, humanize, improve, or expedite all interactions. The UC tool is part of MMG Fusion, the all-in-one software suite working to market, manage, and grow practices. The second of four products being released within the new MMG Manage suite of services, UC is the central communication hub for all practice interactions and its efficiencies generate more time for both the practice and the patient.
[ SHOE SANITIZING STATION ]
The UVZone Shoe Sanitizing Station
The UVZone Shoe Sanitizing Station is the first and only proactive disinfection solution that uses a patented combination of Ozone + UV-C light for superior disinfection results. This combination is said to be 110x more powerful at eliminating pathogens than using UV light alone. It has been proven to eliminate coronavirus, MRSA, C. diff, E. coli, Candida Auris, Staphylococcus Aureus, Klebsiella Pneumonia, and other similar pathogens in 8 seconds, resulting in cleaner and safer environments. In conjunction with your current practices of using booties, shoe baths, and sticky mats, this is an additional layer of protection for your infection prevention program, particularly in high-risk areas.
[ CLINICAL LAMP ]
K-Lite
The K-Lite lamp is a device that allows the removal of excess or unwanted dental materials such as composites or adhesives. Examples include orthodontic brackets, attachments and retainers, residual cements, etc. It can assist in the identification of certain bacterial byproducts found in plaque, calculus, and in infected dentine, and it is easy to use. The dual portable flashlight guided by a glass fiber optic consists of a White LED (6000° K) for transillumination (i.e. visualization of opalescence, crack lines, and fractures); and a UV-A LED (violet light) that, when directed onto composites or adhesives with fluorescent components, calculus or plaque, makes them easier to detect.
[ HYGIENE INSTRUMENTS ]
First Line™ Kits
First Line Kits are instrument recommendations to supplement your current hygiene set-ups any time there is contraindication to using power scalers and aerosols. Most clinicians use a power scaler for heavy debridement and have fine hand scalers, curettes, explorer, probe, and mirror to round out their kit. However, there are contraindications to power scaling, such as infectious or communicable disease, non-shielded pacemakers, implant defibrillators, or p
roblems swallowing or gagging. The First Line Kit—Area Specific features Amazing Gracey scalers alongside posterior and anterior scalers; the First Line Kit—Universal includes universal curettes instead of the Gracey scalers.
[ FACE SHIELD FOR LOUPES ]
