ADA to welcome President Bill Clinton as Distinguished Speaker during 2013 Annual Session

The American Dental Association (ADA) will welcome President Bill Clinton to the 154TH Annual Session and World Marketplace Exhibition for the 2013 Opening General Session and Distinguished Speaker Series Thursday, Oct. 31, at the New Orleans  Ernest N. Morial Convention Center.

President Clinton, founder of the William J. Clinton Foundation and 42nd president of the United States. After leaving the White House, he established the William J. Clinton Foundation, an organization with a mission to improve global health, strengthen economies, promote healthier childhoods and protect the environment by fostering partnerships among governments, businesses, nongovernmental organizations and private citizens.

Today the foundation’s staff and volunteers work around the world improving lives through several initiatives, including the Clinton Health Access Initiative, which is helping 4.5 million people living with HIV/AIDS have access to lifesaving drugs.

 “We are excited and honored to have President Clinton speak at the Annual Session,” said Dr. Michael Blicher, 2013 chair for the Council on ADA Sessions. “I believe his charitable work and experiences can inspire all dentists, no matter what their political beliefs are.” 

In addition to his foundation work, President Clinton is the author of three books, “Giving: How Each of Us Can Change the World,” his memoir “My Life” and the New York Times bestseller “Back to Work.” Born in Hope, Ark., President Clinton and his wife, former Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton, have one daughter, Chelsea, and live in Chappaqua, N.Y.

The ADA’s annual session, which is scheduled Oct. 31 to Nov. 3, brings together leaders in dental practice, research, academia and industry to present more than 300 continuing education courses over four days.

The Opening General Session, which kicks off the convention, will also honor the winner of the 2013 Humanitarian Award.
