Testing conducted at the University of Texas Medical Branch found the company's air purifying technology inactivated more than 99.9% of concentrated airborne SARS-CoV-2 virus in an enclosed setting in 3 minutes.
In testing a top biosafety testing facility, ActivePure Technologies' air purifying technology was found to inactivate 99.9% of concentrated airborne SARS-CoV-2 virus in an enclosed setting in 3 minutes.
The testing was conducted in November 2020 at the University of Texas Medical Branch (UTMB) which also dies testing for the U.S. military and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). The company's technology can be installed within an HVAC system or as a part of a portable air purifying unit and has been on the market for more than a decade.
The testing was conducted in a Bio Safety Level (BSL)-3 and -4 laboratory, and tests were conducted in triplicate according to FDA guidelines and protocols. In the tests, live SARS-CoV-2 virus was sprayed into a test chamber at concentrations of more than 10 million particles per milliliter. ActivePure Aerus Pure & Clean and Vollara Air & Surface Pro systems set at their lowest settings of 29 cubic feet per minute of air movement reduced the concentration of the virus by 99.96% in 3 minutes. During the testing, the purifiers were using only ActivePure Technology with all other air purification functions either disabled or removed.
Further testing is ongoing with an aim of seeing if the technology is as effective over shorter timeframes. For more information, visit www.pureairliving.com/Scientific-Data.
