October 1, 2015 marks the deadline for the transition to the 10th revision of the International Classification of Diseases (ICD-10), which will introduce a whole new set of codes for dental and medical practices nationwide.
While many of the codes will be similar to the ICD-9 versions, there are a few additions that are pretty bizarre. Our sister publication Medical Economics dove deep into the ICD-10 codes to find the most peculiar additions.
Bitten by a cow? There’s a code for that. Have a less-than-favorable encounter with a whale? There’s a code for that, too. Suffer an unexpected collision with a Navy watercraft? Why, you can classify that too.
