Doug leaves his loving wife of forty years, Ethelle; sons Brad (Ro), Trevor (Angela and grandson Tyler); his brother, Ron (Bonnie) and sister, Jackie (Bill). Services were held May 10, 2013.
After beginning his business career with The Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce (CIBC), Doug joined The Aurum Group of Companies (Aurum Ceramic Dental Laboratories, Space Maintainers-Pacific Northwest Dental Laboratories and Cerum Dental Supplies) in 1978 and had been with the company since that time, achieving the level of Vice President and CFO as well as becoming a partner.
Over his dental career of more than thirty-five years, Doug had a long history of service to the industry. His many voluntary endeavors included past president of the Dental Laboratory Conference, and past directorships with the American Dental Trade Association, the Dental Industry Association of Canada (DIAC) and the Canadian Dental Association’s Dentistry Canada Fund (DCF). His dedication to the charitable aspects of dentistry was legendary, culminating in his recognition with the Outstanding Service Award-Industry Professional by the Dentistry Canada Fund at their 2003 Celebrating Smiles Gala.
