I began working at A-dec more than 25 years ago, and have worked in all areas of the company. This has helped me develop a broad understanding of every aspect of the company. I guess one could say I was not instantly convinced. My introduction to digital impressions began in 2003 with a CEREC® 3 demonstration at a dental convention. From the beginning, I was fascinated with the digital imaging portion of the technology, but was resistant to change.

Parents and patients don’t intend to be less committed to their appointments during the “lazy days of summer” but let’s face it…if anyone makes them a better offer than going to the dentist, off they go, which means your scheduling coordinator works at top speed to keep the changes in the schedule filled. Not to mention the stress involved with the confirmed patient “no-shows.”

I incorporated CAD/CAM into my practice more than 10 years ago, and have been a proponent of the technology and its efficiency ever since.

Whatever your practice goals may be, the platform that is built to grow upon is key to success. Practices are bought and sold quite often, but it is every practitioner’s dream to build their own. When dentists get to build their own practice the right way using modern equipment and materials, their future plans will be much better served. The same is true for their computer system and their future technology goals, which includes going to a paperless office by 2014.
