DPR reports live from IDS 2017 about the latest product offerings from 3Shape, including the TRIOS wireless intraoral scanner and the X1 digital imaging system.
3Shape had a bustling trade show floor at IDS this year, demonstrating just how excited attendees were to see their innovations first-hand.
The particular innovations that drew constant crowds included the TRIOS 3 Wireless intraoral scanner, a more flexible version of the original, and the X1 4-in-1 CBCT scanner. They also introduced upgrades to Implant Studio, Smile Design, TRIOS Design Studio and TRIOS Patient Specific Motion.

Before the 2017 International Dental Show in Cologne, 3Shape teased “major developments” to TRIOS, and they weren’t lying. Now that TRIOS 3 is wireless, clinicians have even more flexibility in the operatory to move freely now that intraoral scanning with TRIOS is no longer tied to a computer (instead, it connects to the software through Wi-Fi). TRIOS 3 Wireless is powered by long-lasting rechargeable batteries that can be easily switched out to enable non-stop scanning. As with the original, TRIOS 3 Wireless also acts as a remote control to provide a seamless transition from patient to screen with one tool.
“This is a great patient experience because the scanning has never been as easy or fast before,” remarks Olga Zubatenko, Product Specialist at 3Shape. Full-mouth scans, including occlusion, can be done in under a minute to help increase your practice’s productivity.

10 improvements to your scanning software that can change your workflow
3Shape TRIOS Design Studio offers the tools needed to provide same-day dentistry. In combination with the TRIOS 3 Wireless intraoral scanner, dentists can design and mill restorations in minutes.
The 3Shape X1 4-in-1 CBCT scanner offers CBCT, panoramic, cephalometric and face scanning. It offers clear and precise imaging with motion compensation technology, promising a more comfortable patient experience and more accurate images.
Also introduced and soon to be on the market is TRIOS Patient Monitoring, which will allow clinicians to easily compare intraoral scans taken over time. The software will track and quantify gingival retraction, bruxism, and teeth movement and highlight changes that may need attention. According to a press release, the tool will be available as part of the TRIOS workflow in an upcoming upgrade.
