Lynn Atkinson has been a Registered Dental Hygienist for over 30 years. She graduated from Cypress College, California with a degree in Dental Hygiene in 1989 and is proud to have been part of several dental teams that have incorporated state of the art technology. Since her initial training and certification through the World Clinical Laser Institute (WCLI) in dental lasers in 1996, Lynn has been actively applying the use of dental lasers in hygiene daily in her practice in Mission Viejo, CA.

Lynn went on to achieve the Standard Proficiency Certification through the Academy of Laser Dentistry (ALD) in 2013 and the Advanced Proficiency Certification Parts I and II in 2019. She is an active member of the Academy of Laser Dentistry, the American Dental Hygiene Association, the California Dental Hygiene Society, is a Hygiene Member on the BIOLASE Advisory Board, and a speaker and educator for Biolase. Lynn serves on the Board of Directors at the Academy of Laser Dentistry as Auxiliary Chair, is on the Speaker’s Bureau and is involved in the testing committee.

National Dental Hygiene Month is a good time to acknowledge and empower hygiene professionals particularly in laser education.

Lynne Slim is an award-winning dental author who has published extensively in dental/dental hygiene journals including 

Journal of the Western Society of Periodontology

. She was the periodontal columnist for RDH magazine for about 17 years and is now a columnist for 

 and is a member of their advisory board. In 2003, Lynne founded Perio C Dent, a dental practice management company that specializes in the incorporation of non-surgical periodontal therapy into the hygiene department of the general dental practice.

As a key opinion leader in the dental industry, Lynne is frequently asked to review new products and write product reviews. She participates in product development and is consulted about consumer/RDH product awareness. Lynne received the Philips Oral Healthcare “Mentor of Distinction” award at the 2012 ADHA Annual Session.

Ms. Newkirk received her dental hygiene degree from the University of Alaska, Anchorage, in 1981. A recognized key opinion leader in periodontal endoscopy, Suzanne has published numerous articles and co-authored several dental textbook chapters on minimally invasive non-surgical periodontal therapy with use of the dental endoscope.
