How technology can simplify the placement of dental implants

I recently had the chance to sit down and talk with Dr. James Stein, who will be one of the presenters at Henry Schein’s “Demystifying The Digital Dental Highway” course held during the upcoming American Academy of Periodontology meeting (AAP) meeting in San Francisco.

During our chat, we talked about a number of topics, including technology in the dental practice and how dentists can simplify the process of placing dental implants.

“For me, as a restorative dentist, the technology I have in my practice has been invaluable,” Dr. Stein said. “I’ve been able to reduce patient visits, chair time, and also the patient’s treatment time. I am also able to place implants in a much more accurate way, thanks to digital planning.”

When asked specifically how it has helped his patients, Dr. Stein was quick to answer.

“Having the advantage of taking a digital impression preoperatively and combining that with data allows us to develop a surgical guide. We don’t have to make a surgical flap so the procedure is far less traumatic for the patient,” Dr. Stein explained.
