Dental Lab Products Managing Editor Noah Levine talks with Carl Horrocks from 3Shape about the new TRIOS intraoral impression system at CDA 2012. "The Trios is a digital impression taking intraoral scanner that is an open system," said Horrocks. "The machine is on a cart with wheels so it's very easy to move around. It's also touchscreen and you can send to any laboratory with the open lab feature."

Featuring Ultrafast Optical Sectioning technology, TRIOS utilizes up to 1,000 3D pictures to create geometries based on real data. The scanner captures over 3,000 2D images per second and does not require dentists to apply spray to coat the patient’s teeth, making scanning fast, accurate and comfortable for patients.
Dentists can preview 3D lab designs on the TRIOS screen, evaluate and agree on margin lines, access virtual diagnostic wax-ups and generally discuss cases with labs and patients when convenient.
The CDA Presents The Art and Science of Dentistry is ongoing through Saturday, May 5, and features 600 exhibiting companies and more than 140 new products.
Throughout the show, and after, visit CDA 2012 live coverage for video, audio and written reports about the show.
