The Tina Calloway PRO-Visional Bur Kit by KOMET USA is the first kit introduced by KOMET USA designed specifically for dental assistants.

A “Christmas Tree” acrylic bur facilitates access to the margins, and a flexible honeycomb/swirl diamond disc simplifies trimming and shaping of interproximal areas. In addition, this disc assists with the feathering technique in which acrylic material is thinned in specific areas. The exceptionally thin nature of the disc provides assistants with excellent visibility for the blending and material reduction required for feathering. Also included in the kit are an acrylic, slowspeed, football-shaped bur for conservative occlusal adjustments and a rubber polishing tip for smoothing rough edges.

The Tina Calloway PRO-Visional Kit by KOMET USA contains five laboratory burs that are numbered for simplified ordering. They are supplied in a wrapped, plastic bur kit with a clear top for easy viewing.

The Tina Calloway PRO-Visional Kit Bur Kit by KOMET USA can be used in the provisionalization of bridges, crowns, inlays, onlays and veneers.

When asked which bur the evaluation team used the most, the results were in favor of the diamond disc (6924-104-180) to open embrasures and the polishing wheel (9448-104-220). When asked which bur the evaluation team liked the least, the H73-104014 was mentioned. Several of the team members said they would like to add a small occlusal anatomy bur to the kit and possibly a pointed diamond for defining margins. All felt the burs trimmed incredibly well and smooth. The evaluators were asked to grade the Tina Calloway PRO-Visional Bur Kit, and the rating speaks for itself: a 4.3 average.

	The CPS Evaluation Team Members, who combine product review for the whole dental team and consists of dentists, assistants, hygienists, front desk associates and the dental laboratory technicians, each received a 4-ml bottle of Profluorid L by VOCO America. CPS produced the following comments and reviews following the evaluations.

	VOCO America’s Profluorid L clear liquid varnish with 5% sodium fluoride and calcium fluoride is especially formulated not to interfere with the bleaching procedures. It features a liquid consistency for easy and economical application without the stickiness of some other varnishes.


	The manufacturer’s instructions were included in the package along with a training CD for each of the evaluators.


	For therapy of hypersensitivity in multiple indications, including conservative dentistry, cosmetic dentistry, orthodontics  and prosthetics.  


	Profluorid L comes in a liquid. The material is very thin and clear to not add color to tooth structure. Profluorid L’s sodium fluoride is water-soluble and has an immediate effect. Its calcium fluoride ensures a longer-lasting fluoride release.

	CPS review team felt this product was very easy to use. Most felt the smell was a little bitter, as was the tasting with a need for added flavor. Some evaluators liked the idea of having a ball inside to ensure a well mixed material, but would like to have a squeeze bottle. Every evaluator said they liked the fact it dried fast with good adhesion to exposed areas. One evaluator said they used it before and after their in-office whitening and found that they could do longer bleaching sessions. Would like to have smaller and more mixing wells in the kit. All liked the dispenser for the brushes for application.

VOCO America's Profluorid L varnish

	The CPS Evaluation Team Members, who combine product  review for the whole dental team and consists of dentists, assistants, hygienists, front desk associates and dental laboratory technicians, reviewed this product.

	OptraDam Plus is a natural rubber latex, double ring framed dental dam that generally doesn’t require conventional rubber dam clamps. The metal-free, dual ring frame design allows the dam to be placed intraorally. The inner ring is placed in the vestibule area, while the outer ring fits extraorally against the patient’s face. With redesigned rings, this second version claims to offer more comfort to the patient than the original OptraDam. This ocean blue dam includes a mapping of both arches with printed dots, representing where to punch holes for the teeth, in addition to a cross design to represent quadrants of the mouth. OptraDam Plus can be used for single, multiple or dual arch tooth isolation.

	OptraDam Plus is individually packaged to prevent cross contamination. Each Intro Kit contains 25 small and 25 regular sizes; refills contain 50 packages of either small or regular size. Most clinicians said they kept six in their patient rooms and the remainder in the supply closet.

	The manufacturer’s instructions were very accurate and understandable. Some evaluators had problems with the first attempt at placement, but found using a mirror handle as demonstrated in the video made it easier. Without watching the video, the pinch techniques would have been difficult to describe.

	Most evaluators said the change in the ring design and the ability to place a saliva ejector in the center of the dam made it more comfortable than the previous version. Some evaluators said their patients believed felt the OptraDam relieved pressure from the patient’s jaw more so than just holding it open without isolation. During endodontic procedures, taking radiographs seemed difficult and uncomfortable.

	The majority of evaluators said placement of the OptraDam took an average of 2 to 4 minutes.

	Anterior isolation was easier than posterior isolation. Most evaluators used clamps for the posterior teeth, but none of the evaluators needed clamps for the anterior teeth. The Evaluation team said the dam was marked for perfect spacing and formed a perfect seal around each tooth isolated.

	The CPS review team said the new revised OptraDam Plus was a true improvement. The dam material was thick enough and presented good tear strength to withstand stretching and pulling. The team was pleasantly surprised by the fact that patients were comfortable without anesthetic while placement occurred. The OptraDam Plus was used for several procedures such as bonding and bleaching. Some reviewers felt this was the dam of choice when using a slit dam technique for placement of restorations. Clamps were needed in the posterior area, but again clamps are needed for other conventional dam placement.
