During the past few days, Dental Products Report has been reporting from the ground level of the Midwinter Meeting. But, why does it matter? This is why.

Why does the Chicago Dental Society Midwinter Meeting matter? This is probably a question that many of you in your practice, office or home have been asking during the last few days as we here at 

Dental Products Report have been giving you the ground-floor coverage

Well, according to Dr. John Flucke and Dr. Lou Graham, it does matter. It matters a lot.

 Midwinter Meeting …,” explains Graham. “This meeting is a happening meeting. There are so many new products that are launched it’s kind of like our cologne of the U.S. There’s just so much going on.”

Graham says Midwinter is the ultimate place to ask the question: “What are we looking for, for our practice?” Trade shows, such as Midwinter, is the place to answer this question in hundreds of different ways in one environment.

“This is one of those shows where they launch all the new stuff,” adds Flucke. “If you want to be on top of what the new stuff is, Chicago was like Mecca. You’ve got to journey here at some point in your career.”

I don’t get off on romantic parts. But I often think if I had had my dental work done early on, well, maybe.

I always wanted to be a dentist from the time I was in high school, and I was accepted to dental school in the spring of 1972. I was planning to go, but after the Olympics there were other opportunities.

When I was in sixth grade there was a talent show, and I wrote my first sketch, 'The Dentist.' I played the dentist, and I had my friend play a patient. It was sort of what can go wrong at the dentist, and I just remember I had lots of fake blood and everything.

If Alien was my friend, I'd like to be with him when he went to the dentist. When they started drilling, he'd probably go nuts and start eating everybody. That Alien!

When a writer becomes a reader of his or her own work, a lot can go wrong. It's like do-it-yourself dentistry.

I am keeping with tradition today. After I learned of my Golden Globe nomination, I went to the dentist, so today, let's make it the orthodontist.

My health plan doesn't cover dental, so I enrolled my teeth as 32 dependents, each needing a complete physical once a year.

The best and cheapest dentistry is when the right thing is done extremely well the first time and it lasts for a long time.

The only way I can make a Jim Carrey face is through Novocain at the dentist’s office.
