We talk with Dr. Paul Child, executive vice president of Bisco, about

 is a radiopaque, light-curable flowable composite containing “apatite stimulating” calcium silicates to protect and stimulate pulpal and dentin repair. It’s the optimal replacement to calcium hydroxide, glass ionomer-based or RMGI materials because of its optimal handling, ease of placement, and enhanced biological properties.

“We’ve heard a lot of fantastic comments,” Child explains. “A lot of doctors are using this as a pulpal protectant for a direct or indirect pulpal exposure and they’re placing it on top of moist dentin. What they’re finding out is … doctors can tell patients that it may help regenerate the tooth structure and help to heal the tooth structure.”

He added he’s been hearing dentists are completing less and less root canal procedures because of the healing capacity of TheraCal LC.
