Synchrony—a consumer financial services company that provides the CareCredit credit card—has announced an enhanced partnership with Atlanticus Holdings Corporation to deliver Synchrony merchants and partners a preferred second look financing solution designed to easily offer more customers access to credit, helping to increase merchants' sales and brand loyalty.

Atlanticus, through its bank partnerships, facilitates second look point-of-sale consumer credit programs spanning general purpose credit cards, private label credit cards, and installment loans predominately under the Fortiva brand.

Under this multi-year partnership, the program managed by Atlanticus will be the preferred second look financing solution for private label credit cards and installment loan products across Synchrony businesses, the companies state. Synchrony merchants, including small businesses, healthcare providers and retail partners, will now have a streamlined enrollment process, a system designed to prioritize ease of use and security, and favorable merchant pricing with Atlanticus.

"Synchrony and Atlanticus have partnered since 2019 to support merchants across industries in maximizing their growth potential by responsibly offering financing solutions to more customers," Florin Arghirescu, senior vice president and chief product officer at Synchrony, says in a press release. "This partnership aligns with our mission to help merchants and providers build loyalty through flexible products, capabilities and a great customer experience."

The availability of this solution is expected to attract a broader customer base, including those financially underserved and those interested in general purpose credit cards, private label credit cards and installment loan product offerings made available through the program. This collaboration will enable consumers who may not receive offers from Synchrony to obtain an instant second look for a credit or financing product.

"This partnership furthers the ability to offer inclusive financial solutions, allowing our merchant partners to say, 'yes' more often."

Blue Sky Bio has announced a new dental implant Photogrammetry System, called Blue Sky Bio Grammee, powered by Tupel 3D. This scanner is designed to measure implant positions accurately, efficiently, and affordably, according to Blue Sky Bio. The battery-powered and wireless system touts a ±6 micron repeatability with an angular repeatability of ±1/30th of a degree for enhanced accuracy. This accuracy is made possible by Blue Sky Bio’s “Iterative Noise Reduction” system, which enables narrow camera separation and small posts.

The scanner also hosts an LCD display that makes viewing implant positions easier. Grammee touts Wi-Fi connectivity as well as USB 2.0, USB 3.0, or Wi-Fi data transfers. The scanner reportedly calibrates in 1 minute and 30 seconds while scan time comes in at 20 seconds. This is all dependent on the number of posts and CPU cores, according to the company. It outputs an STL CAD file for implant positioning, including abutment data and scan bodies to inform the next steps in implant design.

Software features include auto-calibration, scanning feedback, and an auto merge feature that is said to be able to combine up to 10 posts per jaw.

Blue Sky Bio is offering a Complete Package that contains 6 Dot posts and 6 Scan Bodies; a short uni-driver; a thumbwheel/ITI Wrench Adapter; a 1-year warranty for replacement or repair not covering physical damage; and 40 complimentary implants of their choice for existing Blue Sky Bio implant customers. Nash Institute to Present Full Mouth Reconstruction Course July 19-20

The Nash Institute for Dental Learning has established a new campus in Colts Neck, New Jersey this year at the Institute for Advanced Dental Education (IADE) Center, and plans to present the comprehensive 2-day, hands-on program “Full Mouth Reconstruction: High-Tech, High-Touch”.

The 16 CEU course was to be held at the Institute of Advanced Dental Education (IADE) located in Colts Neck, on July 19-20. The IADE was recently designated as an authorized Nash Institute for Dental Learning affiliate and as such, will serve as the Nash Institute’s New Jersey Campus.

A new Care Quest Institute for Oral Health® report shows that poorer families paid 7.4 times more in out-of-pocket expenditures for dental care compared to high-income families between 2007 and 2021. The report, “Lower-Income Families Still Spend More on Dental Care,” also reveals that families living in poverty and those with lower incomes were less likely to have visited a dentist in the past year compared to families with higher incomes in the U.S.

Further revealing deep health disparities based on income, 

shows that between 2007 and 2021, the most recent data available, inequities in out-of-pocket expenditures between the poorest and wealthiest families in the U.S. have continued to grow. In 2007, the poorest families paid 5.5t imes more out of pocket for dental treatments.

“As these inequities continue to widen, we need solutions to make dental coverage and care more accessible and affordable for low-income families,” CareQuest Institute CEO and President Myechia Minter-Jordan, MD, MBA, says in a press release this week. “While we’ve seen some progress in recent years, policymakers need to do more to fully address these disparities, including expanding Medicaid adult dental coverage.”

, increased dental provider participation in Medicaid, and support for safety-net providers serving low-income patients as solutions to make dental coverage and care more accessible and affordable for low-income families. Incentivizing oral health providers to practice in Dental Health Professional Shortage Areas can also help improve access to affordable oral health care in these geographies.he report suggests.

The percentage of individuals with at least 1 dental visit within the prior year was substantially lower among poorer households (~25%) than wealthier ones (~55%).

When people from lower-income families can receive dental care, their households bear a disproportionate burden of out-of-pocket dental costs.

Comprehensive Medicaid adult dental benefits in all states, increased dental provider participation in Medicaid, and support for safety-net providers serving low-income patients are just a few solutions that would make dental coverage and care more accessible and affordable for low-income families.
